How did you reach the truth?

I have been convinced after reading the articles of authors here, especially wise, sandokhan, John Davis and other scientists. I thought that the world must be flat, as all of these gentleman scientists cannot make mistakes all at once.

The attitude of angry globalists here caused me to move away from them. especially though jackblack and rabinoz are the people who are respected by globalists here, but constantly insult and swear people worried me that I might have been on the wrong side

A Poll: How did you get the reality of Flat Earth fact?

Our recent polls reveal that the number of people who accept the fact that the world is flat is growing rapidly. These were, of course, people who previously believed that the world was a sphere. But somehow something made them see the truth. With the questions in this questionnaire, we will question what changed the mind of those who thought that the world was like a ball. Globalists still can participate in this survey by marking which topic worries them the most.

I hope the participants  will be fair and honest as much as this poll. good luck.

O - None of the above.

My late father was in construction business.
He knew several geodesists from few different companies.
Direct data from them inspired me to later do some measurements on my own.
Sextants on eBay were cheap.
One arc minute of Earth's curvature is 1852 meters long
(Series of measurements with cheap sextant show somewhere between 1770 and 1930).
I saw for myself why is Nautical Mile defined to be 1852 meters long.

That also works for calling family overseas.
And there would be so much more land.

And no need for complex math to determine distances between locations or directions to locations and so many different projections of a sphere for a map. Instead just one simple universal map based upon a direct scaling of Earth.

A flat Earth would be great.

But I care more about the truth than what I think would be good.

the concept of time has not changed. time is about the sunrise and sunset. and in the flat world, the sun sets and rises. the only difference is that this happens physically in the sphere world, while in the flat world this is only observational.

A flat earth would be great so it is great, because it is so. So, pay for it, admit the truth.

The concept hasn't changed, but the practical difference between a RE and a FE are quite significant.
With a RE, there must be several time zones, as the sun will rise and set at different times for different locations.
But with a FE, the simplest is to have a single time zone.

When the sun goes below, it is sunset, for the entire disk.

1 time zone is all that is needed.

If you take that away and instead have a spotlight sun, then you defeat one of the most appealing aspects of the FE.

While FE has some appealing aspects, which the very real RE does not, including a FE not having time zones, I accept reality, that Earth is round.
That is because I care more about the truth, than what I think would be nice.

Perhaps you should admit the truth?
That while FE is better than a RE in some regards, it is the very points where FE does not match reality that would make it better, and thus Earth is not flat.

Just because you are comfortable with living on a giant rotating spheroid hurtling through space, doesn't mean everybody is, or even has to be.

The irony of the flat earth society, is the shape of the world, is the least important thing any two people should be arguing about. We are all here, no matter the shape of here - move on.

Yet, members on this forum (mainly globe huggers) often make it seem like they are on a crusade - a matter of life and death. Flat earthers here, just calmly go about their business and take on the next angry attack.

It's about respecting other's viewpoints. A number of globalists could learn a few lessons from the board's flat earthers.

I understand, but again, I care more about the truth and accepting reality than believing in a happy fantasy.
The same could be said for so much.
I'm pretty sure the majority of people that have cancer hate having it. That doesn't mean I'm going to pretend cancer isn't real.

And it actually has implications on our day to day lives which most people don't bother making the connection to.
If they are willing to reject this firmly established fact, and claim so much in science is outright lying to them, and the government is lying to try and control them, it makes them dangerous people willing to reject so much more, which will actually have more significant effects.

How many FEers accept climate change as real? How many reject that because they reject science which then pushes us closer to our own anhiliation?
How many FEers rejected (and potentially still reject) the science on coronavirus because they reject science and thus are currently endangering people's lives?

Do you respect all those viewpoints, or do you find them abhorrent and not worthy of respect?

Or perhaps one with a more direct consequence, you come across someone on the edge of the roof of a very tall building claiming that they can fly. Do you respect their viewpoint, causing them to try to fly and jump and fall to their death? Or do you respect reality?

What's unique about globe denial, is the fact, people hundreds of years ago, quite comfortably did live their entire lives believing the earth were flat. It didn't harm or affect anybody.

Upon the moment we each open our eyes for the first time, the earth does look flat when looking around. It is only when we read or are told the earth is spherical, does the globe concept start to resonate.

Jack, how do you know wise, sandokhan, and others, aren't just trolling every unsuspecting globe hugger who ventures into this forum - their domain?

There are many possible motivations behind the actual flat earthers on this forum. I'm not convinced any of them have been necessarily radicalized, nor are all necessarily sincere.

Perhaps they chose a side on a debate and are loyal to their debating team? You could throw up a thousand globe earth proofs, or ten thousand, and no flat earther here will openly concede that yes, ok, I finally agree the earth is spherical.

Even as a legitimate belief, I don't hear any of them talking about killing infidels or enslaving people. Aside from what they debate, they're as normal as you or I. They're viewpoints on most matters are exactly on par with globetrotters.

I think you need to draw a distinction between delusion and denial. Deluded people are a harm to themselves or others, so need help for sure.

I'm betting that if their lives depended on it, the globe deniers on this forum would default to the herd belief of globe earth. In the same way alternative medicine parents of a seriously ill child will default to conventional medicine when push comes to shove.

Did they actually think it was flat, or did they just live their lives not really caring about the overall shape of Earth?
I suspect the latter.
Especially when they were limited to a small region of Earth with long distance travel taking quite some time, and not communicating with people in real time on the other side of Earth.

That was to demonstrate the absurdity of suggesting we should respect their viewpoint as if all viewpoints are worthy of respect.
Viewpoints are not inherently worthy of respect and they have provided nothing to indicate that their viewpoint, that Earth is flat, is worthy of respect.

Try people thousands of years ago.
Back there it seems that while there were differences of opinion but there didn't seem to be these silly "conspiracy theories" that abound today.

For example Aristarchus of Samos claimed that it was more logical that the smaller body, the Earth, should orbit the larger, the Sun.

Aristarchus didn't seem to be abused or vilified for his heresy but he was refuted because others augured that they should see the "fixed" stars move in the sky due to parallax as the orbited the Sun.

Back there they refuted arguments by observation and logic.

But today like Wise here and many flat Earthers on YouTube say the most dreadful things about Globe believers.

As an example just look at how Wise treats anyone who dares try to refute his claims:

And, Mr Wise, it is impossible to "get the reality of Flat Earth fact" because the simple fact is that the Earth is not flat!

If it were there would be a good model of the flat Earth that explains all that we see but you have shown that you cannot provide one.

And if the Earth really were flat there would be a good flat Earth map but there isn't an accurate flat Earth map and you cannot provide one.

It's ok. Rab and Jack were radicalized by conventional wisdom, many decades ago. They aren't open to new or old viewpoints, and equally astonished today as the first moment they entered this forum, to find members who propagate the flat earth idea. It's too ingrained on them. They are too intolerant. If you were to tell them, you succumb and concede the earth is a ball,(joking ofcourse) they would likely never return. So obsessed with winning the debate, are they.

But, they will be the first to admit, thanks to this forum, they are smarter individuals than they were, prior to coming here. Wise, they have you and Sandy to thank for their increase in knowledge and brain power.

So that was not what was being asked for, and not what you claimed exists.

So no, we don't know it exists. We know there are plenty of false claims that it exists, but so far no one has provided a map of a FE which is actually accurate. Likely because Earth isn't flat and you cannot accurately map a round surface as if it was a flat one.
