I ended up in a Twitter argument about that at the start of the pandemic. My hubby is deaf and wears hearing aids in both ears. He can hear enough in quiet places, but in busy environments, such as shops, he struggles and relies on lip reading to fill the gaps.
He was essentially accused of being selfish for asking people to remove their mask if they were talking to him, and that he should get a lip reading mask for him.
OK. So he can talk to himself in the mirror?
In the end we changed our routine, and did our shipping at 6am, just to be able to do it in relative quiet.
On top of this we were unable to make an audiology appointment for nearly 6 months, and he had to make do with just one hearing aid. Being without aids results in him experiencing increasing tinnitus.
You just get on with it in the end. Still wearing masks though.
