I laugh at the fools who spent the last years downplaying the virus. At those who said vaccines are dangerous. At those who said masks were stupid and so on. To me, these people are incredibly dangerous, selfish liars who have helped to create and foster an attitude that facilitates the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. And in a scope which has started to affect the lives of people who have nothing to do with covid

I don't laugh at those who are quiet, reserved or change their tune and urge others to get vaccinated before they die or end up crippled.

I'm not saying throw current sick people to the wind. But you need  to do something to ease the burden. Imagine stretching an elastic band. Further and further. Too far and it breaks. Your health care system is the same. When it breaks. Everyone suffers. It's foreseeable and preventable

Anti vaxxers / anti mandates want their lives back to normal. So does everyone else. So let's give it to them. They get what they want don't they? The catch being that if you refuse a vaccine that prevents serious illness and death, you must pay for your own care if you should be afflicted with that preventable disease. Can't pay? Stay home and manage the condition. Give them a 'Z pack' and hell, throw in Ivermectin to make them happy. America is no stranger when it comes to turning people away if don't have insurance..... This would not be a big leap

It's triage. And yes. It's awful especially when you are under resourced.

We all belong to a social contract. Give and take. Our society falls apart when people self style themselves as 'sovereign citizens' and urge others to join them. No give. All take. Selfish. And sooner or later that selfishness will hurt them along with the rest of us

Children's sports are the cause of a huge amount of hospital trips. Maybe we should also prevent those kids from having access to ER beds, since they made the poor choice to engage in a much higher risk activity than chess club. Save those beds for the intellectual children that stay safely indoors, earn good grades, study hard, don't disobey their parents, and will one day lead this world into a future where we stop doing silly things like denying people the healthcare they need when they need it most because we don't feel like some people are worthy of the help they need.

If only there were a shorter path to that future. But alas, I can't think of it.

You folks that want Universal Healthcare are in for a surprise when you find out that means antivaxxers are included under the "Universal" umbrella.

Hospitals on a normal given weekend can handle the influx of kids getting hurt.

30beds per 100,000 for the usa.

The math isnt complicated.
At some point 1.5%kill rate and 30/100,000 will cross and then there are no more beds foe the regular issues.

Stop inserting regular ailments.
This is pandemic.

Lockdowns.
Hair cuts and guns.

Dumb analogy. Sports are a part of having a life. Society. Culture. Exercise.  Competition. It's healthy. Is catching a deadly virus the same?

Accidents happen. And if you try and catch a ball and break your fingers, only you are affected. You don't end up  spreading your accident and injury across the planet

Living life is part of having a life. More importantly, people being stupid isn't a reason to deny people healthcare. There are lots of stupid people, and there are lots of people with a financial interest in encouraging people to continue doing stupid things. We should still help save people from their own stupidity, especially when they are most vulnerable and in need of help.

Getting sick and needing the hospital is the consequence. Throwing them out of the hospital is your fucking retarted fantasy.
And yet its not working.  This is what we've been doing and its only breaking the healthcare system.  I asked you for a solution, not what we're already doing!  What, lets just keep at it until the whole thing collapses?  Come the fuck on.  We have nurses and doctors being verbally assaulted for doing their jobs.  Family survivors screaming at hospitals for not providing mega vitamin C doses or whatever drug is the current favorite.
Even when they die, begging people to take the vaccine, its not helping.  People stop listening.
So what the hell are we supposed to do to fix it?  To keep the hospital beds from being overwhelmed?  To keep staff safe and appreciated?  I mean fuck... They hire nurses from a god damn agency because their full time nurses are quitting in droves!

Nobody is saying deny health care to 'stupid people.' It's more saying put people who actively disregard their safety and that of others from something entirely preventable where the solution comes with zero cost to themselves at the bottom of triage. However being at the bottom with a disease that doesn't take long to kill, well that crisis is of their own making. Not the triage nurse

Triage can be a real bastard. You have to make decisions that end up having people with survivable problems possibly die as you attempt to save others

The health care system is over stretched. You have no choice to triage. Triage isn't first come first serve.

The health care system should not be used as a crutch. 'I dont care if I get sick with covid, I'll just get treated in hospital'. When thousands of people all need ICU attention and ventilators at the same time. As a doctor/nurse - it must drive them mad knowing in almost every one of those cases, it was entirely preventable. And that says nothing of the financial burden

When my son was born, he had respitory  distress syndrome and persistent pulmonary hypertension - imagine if the resources weren't readily available to treat him because anti vaxxers taxxed the supplies to hell. In his case, if they didn't have the supplies immediately on hand, he'd be dead.

Do you throw drug addicts out of the hospital when they overdose? Do you throw drunks out of the hospital when they fall down the stairs? Do you throw diabetics out of the hospital because they ate a donut?

Drugs addicts dont infect others and make them sick
Diabetics can be managed at home for the most part and again - dont make others sick just by being around them

Getting sick and needing the hospital is the consequence. If only it stopped there. Getting sick and infecting others is the consequence. And it's not as simple as getting some treatment and off you go. You can be flat out requiring 24 hour care and attention for weeks. The knock on effects puts many people in the health care sector time off work and then they are unable to help and treat others. Covid cases or not

You're seeing this quite shallow. Your analogies are nothing like a serious pandemic outbreak as the only person affected is the person in question. It must still not have hit home to you that over 900K people are dead from this. Millions more suffering lingering after effects and possible permanent damage. Almost every death and critical care stay in hospital since the vaccine was available in 2021 has been preventable.

If the hospitals and health care system could manage the influx of hundreds of thousands of people a year requiring a bed and many thousands requiring supplemental oxygen - for just one problem - that's entirely preventable anyway - no worries. But it cant.

Ask any anti vaxxer / anti mask / anti mandater - they want life to return to normal too. So let them have it and know that triage is not a first come/first serve basis.

Triage is never on a "first come first served basis".  That's the entire point of triage, you retart.

Triage assigns the order of treatment depending on how sick people are.

These people have made a life choice to not get vaccinated. However ordinary people who do the right thing by themselves and the community have to continue suffering to cater for antvaxxers BS ideology
Written with absolutely no evidence to support the statement.

Go ahead, specifically state how people who are vaxxed are suffering because of people who are unvaxxed.

specifically, officials who feel the need to keep lockdowns and hospital space for the unvaxed.

so it's hurting business and it's hurting people who need normal hospital services.
The officials are making those decisions, not the unvaxxed.

Since the vaxxed can get it and spread it, you got nothing.

Ok.  People who are vaxxed are suffering because of people who are unvaxxed.
Must be a state of permanent outrage syndrome.
Unvaxxed morons filling up hospitals keeping vaxxed people from getting surgeries and procedures.
No evidense.

The only ones not getting surgeries now, including life saving procedures are the unvaxxed.
All the overworked medical staff having to deal with watching all the unvaxxed idiots begging for help as they die of COVID.
A statement signifying your tool and fool standing.
Selfish unvaxxed walking around unmasked and without care as they spread disease and make the pandemic worse.
Masks don't work in curtailing the spread of a virus, tool.

Of course its not first come first serve - that was the point I was making. ::) duh! Yet some here seem to believe (and antivaxxers in need of urgent medical intervention) that the hospital owes them just because they need the care. Lets just burn through all the hospital resources and have a huge chunk of the workforce off work isolating to cater for every unvaxxed covid sick bastard who thinks vaccines are going to kill us all. Ideology like this leaves little resources for everyone else who need medical treatment.

I dont care much for 'mandates either' because I believe this could have been resolved much better with more effective communication. At the same time I dont feel sorry for those 'caught up' in it. But if your employer says to get vaccinated as a condition of employment - that's quite up to them. Your job is a privilege. It is not owed to you. The government telling its workers (especially for those in the health care sector) that the covid vaccination is a requirement to continue employment - that's entirely their right. And vaccine mandates have been around for many years. It's not new.

No one is 'forcing' anyone to get a vaccine as much as these protestors try to tell us. Take it or leave it. It has always been this way with any vaccine. Leaving certain vaccines just happens to come with consequences that may affect your livelihood. Leaving it but continuing as normal may affect somebodies actual life. Well that's what living in a society is about. Dont like it? Leave.

I'd love to pack my kids lunch box with peanut butter sandwiches and museli bars with nuts. He 's not allergic. But some people in the school may be. So as any good citizen in a society does, they dont pack their kids with allergens to protect the community. We get vaccinated not solely for our own benefit but for the community at large. In that context, I really am not fussed with them being made mandatory

However 'vaccines mandates' dont hurt anyone. Getting infected with Sars unprotected and spreading it around the community - does. You live in a society. - Civil freedom trumps your personal freedoms. That's how societies operate

Who said anything about you being left to die in a gutter? Why do you feel the need to bullshit your way through a post to make some random point? Weirdo ::) I said people like you want life to return to normal too. ::) So lets have at it

Yeah I had someone call me a snob.
It's about time someone called you a snob. I was going to do it but didn't want to waste the time.

Well you go off and be a sovereign dickhead if you like. Humans learned long ago that working together was more beneficial than being selfish arsehats. Clearly some humans are yet to grasp this concept ::)
Yes, and the people that learned the concept were the people who were able to LIVE as they THOUGHT THEY should live, not idiots like you who want to dictate to others how they should live.

Sovereigns understand everyone is sovereign and don't fall for idiocy like the "divine right of kings," crap you like to foist on others.

LOL

Why am I not surprised WISHTOCOUGH also falls for the sovereign citizen bullshit.  Flat earth, sovereign citizens, vaccine nanobot mind control, and Trump won the election.  Is there any conspiracy too dumb for you to mindlessly parrot?

Chemtrails?

Lizard people?

Ancient aliens?

Slenderman?

I got an email saying our free rapid tests are supposed to be arriving today now instead of Thursday, so that's good. Still way later than they originally were saying, but 2 days ahead of the ETA they gave me earlier this week.
