Hey everyone,
I'm very adamant of finding out for myself that the world is flat, I'm new to the community and so I wanted to discuss with someone who's really familiar with the in's and out's of this subject,
I have a couple of questionsand I'd be glad if someone could help me,
I thought about doing a trip around Antarctica, and by measuring the time it would take me, prove that the earth is flat as the distances are vastly different in the round earth model.
Do you think this is feasible? has anyone tried it before? who should I talk to if I want to attempt such a feat?
Thanks a lot!
This is quite feasible, but has the associated risks of travelling in open ocean. I recommend you find a charter boat service which conducts voyages in the open ocean.
There is also no need to go all the way to Antarctica if you don't want to. Instead you can just go between South America, South Africa and Australia/NZ.
This would also mean you can take more direct paths rather than trying to travel along the coast of Antartica and the difference in distance between the FE/RE model is quite significant even at that latitude.
I also recommend doing this in summer.
However note that while this can be used to show a RE, it is harder to show a FE. That is because for a RE, nothing stops you taking longer by not taking a direct route. As such for a FE you need to show that you are taking a fairly direct route between the locations you travel.
Also for the results indicating a RE, it really just refutes the commonly presented FE model. Others will have a bi-polar or south pole centred model which can still be compatible with the measurements, at least to some degree of error.
