After some brief talks with Mad Mike, I am excited to announce he'll be joining our Society as our next member.

We'll also likely be collaborating in promoting some of his works.  None of this will be official until I send off his package, but I thought it might be of interest.
The illusion is shattered if we ask what goes on behind the scenes.

Excellent.  Good luck with the hopefully future collaborations.

Although I’m curious about what level of madness qualifies someone to call themselves Mad Mike in the flat earth community?

Does it mean even further from what most people consider sane?  Or is he closer to regular norms, which flat earthers consider mad?

I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Who is Mad Mike?

Maybe this Mad Mike:

""Mad" Mike Hughes is an American limo driver, daredevil, and flat Earth conspiracy theorist known for flying in self-built rockets."

If it is the rocket chap that would be pretty interesting.

You have to learn to reply without quoting a long previous answer.

Who is Mad Mike?
A dude who couldn't get funding for his rocket stunts until he said it was for photographing a flat earth and bingo!

Quote
In 2016 Hughes launched a failed fundraising attempt for a rocket that earned $310.[2][7] After professing his belief in a flat Earth later that year, Hughes gained support within the flat-Earth community. His post-flat-Earth fundraising campaign made its $7,875 goal.

Though so far he's only got 500m into the air, whereas amateurs are already getting balloons up to 35km - which seems a much more practical way of taking photos of the planet.

He seems like a laugh!

Another victory for FE!

And how fitting, the use of steam. As FE has this nice Victorian feel to it, in my opinion.

EDIT: In 1861, Rowbotham married for a second time (to the 16-year-old daughter of his laundress) and settled in London, producing 14 children, of whom four survived.

That is very Dickensian.

We get to look forward to the fake flat Earther that needed funding for his elaborate attempt at self-harm with a grown up version of a water rocket joining the ranks, eh?  He lives not too far from me; I recall the BLM not being too happy with his publicity stunt.

I see Mr. Davis only enlists the finest as cadre here.

He has done quite a bit to spread the word of the flat earth. This is why his membership was accepted and offered.

Also, I have to admit, its nice to have our own Super Dave Osborn.

I didn't realise membership was still a thing.  Who are the current members of the FES then?

So, which ones of those are actually active?   Or it's really just a bunch of random names (which may or may not be real) on a list.

Many of those are active in one way or another. Many are amongst those you talk to daily here.

Like I mentioned, there are more due to the postcard drive that are not listed. I had plans for reopening the membership in a more open way, but its on the backburner for now as it provides little real value.
