music is a Sin, he who wastes his time in idolatry listening to pleasing sounds is one who will be banished by Allah into hellfire.

Allah doesn't have a problem with music.

Metal, neo-classical, epic, thrash and a shitload of others. Rock too.

He also had a career in professional basketball, until a knee injury made him think about a career in science.

As for my music, I love almost everything: rock, metal, jazz, etc. ...

I dislike most forms of country and rap.

I like all sorts, but particularly the more creative forms of progressive rock and metal. I look for creativity, quality, and depth in music. Those are my only criteria. I simply find that prog fills those criteria more often than any other modern styles.

I used to be a straight metal head while I was at school, but have sinced broadened my horizons greatly. For more info on people's musical tastes, see the "Now Playing Thread"

And yeah... I agree, some metal just doesn't cut it. I have to be able
to feel the emotion behind the songs.

Well, I knew it was only a matter of time before this thread's siren call caught me, and it figures it did so when I should be transcribing (is this structured procrastination, Erasmus?).

Gotta say that I'm a great fan of "deep", "complex" music, like prog, and jazz, but there's always a soft spot in me for some down and dirty blues and rock.  Why?  Because pentatonics still blow my mind, that's why.

I am, in fact, anti-metal and avoid it like the plague.

Lately I've mainly be listening to classical music.  I also listen to the odd hip-hop or drum and bass, but really my favourite bands span multiple genres.  Probably my favourite bands of all time are:

Rage Against the Machine
Prodigy
Propellerheads
Pendulum
True Live

theyre your standard metal from over there in i think... denmark norway, finland. Very heavy, very melodic.

Kamelot is from the States, although the vocalist is from Norway and the keyboardist is from Germany.

Epica is from Holland/The Netherlands.

You listen to shitty music, (S)aint.

Broaden your horizons a bit, man, not all metal is mindless growling and power chords with atonal shredding leads. For those who think they don't like metal, but do like other forms of rock, may I recommend:

Artist- Album

Blind Guardian- A Twist In the Myth
Sieges Even- The Art of Navigating By the Stars
JT Bruce- The Dreamer's Paradox
Ayreon- The Human Equation
Pain of Salvation- Be
