If this apparent sunset is not caused by the Sun vanishing behind the horizon of a round Earth and is instead caused by refraction in the atmos'plane' of light from a Sun higher up in the sky, then why aren't we seeing the bottom half of the Sun?

An even better question, why are the bottom of the clouds illuminated?

Because only the light from the Sun is refracted and from the clouds isn't.
That way we see Sun lower than it is and clouds as high as they are.

Science has an answer for everything.
Unfortunately, flat earthers do not.

Perhaps an information blockade.

That doesn't explain why the clouds are illuminated by sunlight from underneath.  If the sunlight is being refracted towards our view point it can't also be refracted upward to the bottom of the clouds that are above us.

For that matter, if the sunlight is being refracted toward us from its distant location, are the people near it in darkness?

Ofcourse it doesnt.
But explains how they explain light from different sources differently through the same air. :)

Maybe sunlight is special light?

And only the direct sunlight. All other light is refracted just in such a way to have the impression that earth is a sphere. Am I right, wise?
