Anyone working on a lightsaber?
« on: April 25, 2019, 03:07:52 PM »
I know you guys are all probably working on building a light saber. I've been thinking about it as well. One clue I've heard is that the Jedi's travelled to a certain planet to obtain a crystal. I think this was  the emitter of the beam. However, with the advent of these crystal batteries, i think it might be the power source. And i speculate it might invole a magnetic field to terminate the beam...
Not that i wanna cut anyone in half, but you know, who knows what might happen in ten years...

What with the proliferation of drones and all.  Soon as they start delivering medical services
which at that point will be nothing but injections, just like what they threatended Princess Leiagh with. Just kidding of course.

I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

I made a thermic lance once using a metal tube, some welding rods and an oxygen cylinder, that was scary and made a damn mess, not a lot of use against Jedi but totally fucked a metal cabinet.

I once set my parent's kitchen on fire experimenting with gasoline.

Not exactly the same thing as making a lightsaber but it's the closest thing I've got.

If you pump up a balloon with 88% oxygen and 12% acetylene
get someone else to light it.

A lightsaber is nothing more than a high powered laser which is contained in an invisible energy field.

The laser is the easy part. You will need a crystal.

The containment not so easy. Light sabers break a few rules of physics which is why they look so damn cool, and are in a science fiction movie franchise.

Good luck!

Even in a galaxy far, far away?

Even in a galaxy far, far away?

Beams of light or lasers can't terminate mid-air of their own volition in our galaxy, bulldribble. In a galaxy far far away, maybe they might....we'll never know!

This is how to make a light saber in our galaxy (Disclaimer though, if this is made, it would be an instant prohibited dangerous weapon, and you might get shot by a cop if using it wrongly in public)

The lightsaber is an extendable metal baton which extends electronically. It would have an extendable heating element down the middle which super heats the metal, causing it to glow either bright red, blue, or green, depending on the coating on the metal.

It would behave exactly like a lightsaber in appearance, you could have light saber fights, and due to the super generated heat, would injure or kill, just like in the movies. It would also be great at putting holes in snow or cutting down icicles as Luke Skywalker does in Empire Strikes Back.

A great Christmas gift for the ice sculptor in the family!

What!? You would just intercept the bullet with the lightsaber.

Do you even Star Wars bro?

Mechanically?

Mechanically as in a regular extendable baton, would work fine. As would spring loaded. Electronically, using electro magnets would be more impressive.

An infrared light stick would be more stealthy.

(probably need to wear special glasses?)

I imagine that part of constructing a functional lightsaber would be including a very small, very dense power source.

Apparently Disney has a technology which allows them to make lightsabers out of churros.

We used to play light-sabres on the tip using old discarded fluorescent light tubes, get all covered in that white powder that was in them, never ssssseemed to harm us.

Speaking of laser rifles, you know the bad guys always miss, right?
Missed shots never cause damage. Is future drywall really that advanced?
