Distance to the sun from a location on the Tropic of Cancer?
« on: December 25, 2018, 02:59:31 PM »
On the summer solstice from a location, on the Tropic of Cancer,
what is
The Distance to the sun at sunrise?
The Distance to the sun at noon?
The Distance to the sun at sunset?
The Distance to the sun at midnight?
Same location
During the winter solstice?
At what distance does the sun go dark?
Does this change during the year? and why?

The Sun has just turned around from the tropic of Capricorn, what is the distance?

How hard would it be to search the results up or to, dare I say, calculate them yourself?

I can't be bothered working it out for the 21st of June, 2019 but on the 5th of July, 2019:
The Distance from the centre of the earth to the sun at sunrise is about: 152,104,285 km.
The Distance from the centre of the earth to the sun at noon is about: 152,104,285 km.
The Distance from the centre of the earth to the sun at sunset is about: 152,104,285 km.
The Distance from the centre of the earth to the sun at midnight is about: 152,104,285 km.
Subtract about 6375 km for the earth's radius and 695,510 km for the radius of the sun, though this figure is a bit hard to define exactly.

Since the 5th of July, 2019 is the date of the aphelion the time of day will have very little effect on the distance.

The way to calculate it on other dates (and times if need be) can be found in How can I find the distance to the Sun on any given day? (Advanced). It does admittedly ignore the effect of moon's gravitation.

Is that any help ;D?

What do these questions work for?
Everyone can see it in clear weather. The important thing is to be able to see in a foggy day also.
