Downtime Oct 31
« on: October 31, 2018, 08:09:53 AM »
The issue was easy to fix, and avoidable but I didn't have time the last two days due to work. Soon(tm) we will have access for additional administrators to go in and fix stuff themselves.

Hurray for additional admins! I recommend wise.

If wise lacks the technical expertise to run a forum then I recommend boydster.

I second wise, what could go wrong? He could punch that server 60 times in the head until it agreed to cooperate. I don't think I could do that. It would hurt.

He gets punched yet is not effected, he doesn't do the punching. He has a fog that kills people for him.

I love wise.

I would say boydster is the most qualified if he wants the added responsibility. Though I thought you are a software developer crutonius?

I can't offer shit in the realm of skills as I knowing nothing about it. However, I can offer to pay for upgrades etc if that will help?

It may be the wildcard.

While it is a wildcard, it isn't the wildcard you are looking for.

Not my specialty though I could fumble my way through.  It would be like asking a dentist to perform plastic surgery.  I would offer but if boydster is up for it I think his skillset is more appropriate to the task.

Server and Database Management & Maintenance is not difficult.  For the most part, it can be automated.

Yes we know this; our current efforts are towards automating everything to do with the site as well as moving it off our current host.

As a matter of fact, site reliability automation and dev ops is what I currently do for a living for an international corporation and household name. The reason why it is not currently automated is mostly a matter of time and resources.

Few things are really that difficult. It almost always comes down to time and resources.
