I myself will be cheering for Senegal who begin their World Cup campaign against Poland.

The last real world cup final was in 1986. Since then, we've had politics and special interests get in the way of soccer. 1990 - the penalty kick that wasn't, 1994 - a draw in regular time + OT during 40C weather, 1998 - France had to win at all costs, and so on. During the last tournament in Brazil, Brazil sold out the game with Germany, that is why Neymar feigned an injury with Colombia so that he would not be blamed for the loss. In the final, Argentina's best player, Angel Di Maria also had to feign injury, so that Germany could win more easily.

According to Zico, this slip is down to players losing their love for the sport by going to play in other countries.

For those who think that Ronaldo, or Ronaldinho, or Rivaldo, or Messi are some of the top players of all time, they have simply never seen Tostao, Rivellino, Zico, Garrincha or Di Stefano in action.

The soccer of Brasil = ginga. Without ginga, they will always play like an European team, focused on defense.

The Brasilian team with the most ginga was the 1982 world-cup line-up. They couldn't care less if they won or they lost, only ginga, the magic rhythm, mattered most. Even Italy with its best defensive line-up ever (Baresi, Bergomi, Cabrini, Gentile, Scirea) could not stop the Brasilian ginga; Brasil lost because they payed little attention to the defense.

Ronaldo and Rivaldo, Romario brought some of that ginga to the 1994, 1998, 2002 world cups, but it wasn't nearly enough.

Brasil needs another Tostao, who brought ginga + vision to their game, that is why they were above every other team in 1970 (including Italy, who, strangely, did not include Gianni Rivera, their best player, in the line-up for the final with Brasil).
