How is the OP supposed to convince his math teacher the the earth is flat if the flat earth can't be comprehensively described mathematically?  A single line is hardly a comprehensive description of the earth.

I feel like we're starting to go in circles. The OP was looking for some simple tips, not a comprehensive dissertation.

A ball is a good way to describe the earth yet a perfect ball lacks features. So if the earth were flat a straight line would be reasonable to describe a cross section of the the surface. If you were to shrink the earth to 4 inches across it would be smoother than a pool ball. Surprising perhaps but true. It is more or less spherical though of course.

Well, considering you have Sandokhan claiming the sun is only 10km away from the surface of the earth, 5.5 miles (8.8KM) would seem to be relatively major.

Depends on what aspect of the representation the representation is supposed to represent. A straight line is fine for some aspects. A petabyte 3D model is ridiculous if it doesn't include data of interest.

Round earth is not an opinion, it is a fact.  Flat earth is a delusion, completely void of fact.  Calling somebody stupid for arguing that the earth is flat is simply an accurate observation.

like see it from my shoes, she is a teacher i have a lot of respect for and i dont want her to look bad. shes covered my ass a ton of times and saved me from a world of trouble so i feel like this is one of the least things i can do
