What does a cross-sectional view of the surface of our FE look like? A flat line devoid of curvature. Simple.
How thick is the flat earth?

The surface lacks thickness.

Yes. The keyword is relatively. You may have missed the significance of that.

According to the Big Book of stuff flat earthers don't know....  The diameter of the Earth is 7,926.41 miles at the equator.

That's the diameter. The thickness most likely varies but at some places the thickness is 9 miles. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/the-well-to-hell/

Also apparently hell is on the other side. Nevermind that snopes says this is debunked. Hillary most likely strong armed them into claiming this is false.

That's the diameter.

Yes, that's why I wrote "diameter" in my post....

Since the Earth is not flat, this relates well to "thickness".

Okay, then what about the sun, moon and other celestial objects?  How should they and their apparent motions be mathematically represented?

How is the OP supposed to convince his math teacher the the earth is flat if the flat earth can't be comprehensively described mathematically?  A single line is hardly a comprehensive description of the earth.

A ball is a good way to describe the earth yet a perfect ball lacks features. So if the earth were flat a straight line would be reasonable to describe a cross section of the the surface. If you were to shrink the earth to 4 inches across it would be smoother than a pool ball. Surprising perhaps but true. It is more or less spherical though of course.

Well, considering you have Sandokhan claiming the sun is only 10km away from the surface of the earth, 5.5 miles (8.8KM) would seem to be relatively major.

The bottom line is that trying to use a straight line to represent the surface of the earth is absolutely ridiculous.

Depends on what aspect of the representation the representation is supposed to represent. A straight line is fine for some aspects. A petabyte 3D model is ridiculous if it doesn't include data of interest.

Yea, that'll teach her.

Round earth is not an opinion, it is a fact.  Flat earth is a delusion, completely void of fact.  Calling somebody stupid for arguing that the earth is flat is simply an accurate observation.

like see it from my shoes, she is a teacher i have a lot of respect for and i dont want her to look bad. shes covered my ass a ton of times and saved me from a world of trouble so i feel like this is one of the least things i can do
Then maybe you should listen to her when she explains why you are wrong and how it is, in fact, a stupid opinion with supporting evidence.
