Really?  :) Does that mean Kim Jong-un is a CIA agent or an actor who works for Hollywood movies?

If all the world current affairs is just a drama, world's politicians deserve Super Oscar. They're greatest entertainers ever!  8)

But I have no idea of the real fact about them.

I wish there was independent surveyors to give real data. I was sometimes doubtful when working out with my fragrant Phew FE map by quoting their data

Los Angeles - Beijing is around 1.25 of FE radius. 8)

Changing the NASAphobe's mind might be a good start - I've heard it said, "Difficult jobs handled immediately, impossibilities take a little longer!"

But, you complain about my rotating earth, but many here have their earth accelerating upwards till it virtually reaches the speed of light.

Then one, who shall remain nameless (because I can't spell it!), claims that the WHOLE UNIVERSE is moving at almost 1 079 252 849 km/hr yet
you complain about the Globe orbiting the sun at about 107 430 km/hr. Be reasonable.

You don't like the Globe, but look at,
Quote
Bede the Venerable
The monk Bede (c. 672–735) wrote in his influential treatise on computus, The Reckoning of Time, that the Earth was round. He explained the unequal length of daylight from "the roundness of the Earth, for not without reason is it called 'the orb of the world' on the pages of Holy Scripture and of ordinary literature. It is, in fact, set like a sphere in the middle of the whole universe." (De temporum ratione,). The large number of surviving manuscripts of The Reckoning of Time, copied to meet the Carolingian requirement that all priests should study the computus, indicates that many, if not most, priests were exposed to the idea of the sphericity of the Earth.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Bede was lucid about earth's sphericity, writing "We call the earth a globe, not as if the shape of a sphere were expressed in the diversity of plains and mountains, but because, if all things are included in the outline, the earth's circumference will represent the figure of a perfect globe... For truly it is an orb placed in the centre of the universe; in its width it is like a circle, and not circular like a shield but rather like a ball, and it extends from its centre with perfect roundness on all sides."
From: Spherical Earth
And then some time later in the 13th century Iohannes de Sacrobosco (a French scholar, monk and astronomer) wrote his treatise "De Sphaera" on the spheres, the earth and the celestial. He wrote
Quote
THE EARTH A SPHERE. -- That the earth, too, is round is shown thus. The signs and stars do not rise and set the same for all men everywhere but rise and set sooner for those in the east than for those in the west; and of this there is no other cause than the bulge of the earth. Moreover, celestial phenomena evidence that they rise sooner for Orientals than for westerners. For one and the same eclipse of the moon which appears to us in the first hour of the night appears to Orientals about the third hour of the night, which proves that they had night and sunset before we did, of which setting the bulge of the earth is the cause.
And evidence "That the earth also has a bulge from north to south" and "That the water has a bulge and is approximately round".
Such "modern science"!
"De Sphaera"  was regarded as one of the most definitive treatments of Ptolemaic cosmology. Iohannes de Sacrobosco most assuredly believed the earth to be a Globe and with very distant sun, moon and stars.

Yes, both the Venerable Bede and Iohannes de Sacrobosco believed that the earth was stationary as Bede said, " truly it is an orb placed in the centre of the universe".

So, dutchy, answer me this: When was your modern flat earth with its close, tiny sun, moon and stars invented?
They certainly did not seem to believe that 800 years ago or 1400 years ago.

Los Angeles - Beijing is around 1.25 of FE radius. 8)

You can be your own independent surveyor, if you want.
It is easy to do it, if you have access to theodolite or sextant.
But, seeing how you twist Pi and other values, it won't help you.
You wouldn't be honest to yourself.

There are simple descriptions on the internet how to use sextant or theodolite.
Mark spot somewhere on the ground, and mark another spot 1852 meters away.
Now, using some geodesic or navigational instrument measure angle between two verticals, one at first spot, another at the second spot.
You will see that two verticals have angle of one arcminute between them.
Why the angle isn't zero?
Because the two verticals intersect in Earth's center.

1852 meters is one Nautical Mile, which is defined as length of one arcminute on sea level.
It is defined like that to make calculations in sea navigation easier.

You obviously don't know much about inertia.
I watched an FE video last night.
Guy couldn't get his head around how a plane flying at 500MPH
Flying in the direction of rotation of 1000MPH (His number)
Ever got to it's destination, Holy cow.

How fast can a bee fly?
I googled it and the first answer was 15MPH
Could be BS, doesn't really matter, let's go with it.

Said bee, is in your car in the back seat.
You are traveling at 60MPH.
Can the bee get to you and sting you?

According to your fellow FE's logic, no.
You are in no danger of being stung.

Reality though says the bee can get to you.
Bee doesn't have to fly 61 mph to get to you.

We don't feel the speed we're going at
Because we are going that speed.

Show me a Flat Earth map that works.

What would happen if I was standing on an open trailer.

Would I end up laying on the road, all busted up
Or would I land back on the trailer.

A baseball player is throwing a ball during a game near the equator and reaches a speed of 100 km per hour.
Let's say the distance the ball travels is 50 meters from A (South) to B (North).
The ball is thrown at a speed of 100.000 meters per 3600 seconds.
The distance of 50 meters at that speed is completed in an avarage 1.8 seconds.

The rotational speed of the earth at that latitude is 1500.000 meters per 3600 seconds.
In 1.8 seconds the earth has moved under the speeding ball (for you to figure out how much)
Does the baseball reach it's prefered target ?

Or is a pendulum swung indepenently from earth's rotation while being attached to earth and a baseball follows the rotation in a magic fashion while being thrown ?

It is late in the Netherlands....so my latenight calculations could be wrong.....but you get the idea.....
Looking forward to an accurate answer and explaination.

Open the window of an airplane and see what the bee does  ;D

Seadn with closed windows is somewhat "closed system" in which the air is going together with the car.
Convertible with open roof is "open system" in which air more or less has speed of outside space.

Air on Earth is going together with "car named Earth".
So, will it have characteristics of our sedan, or our convertible?

How to "open the window" on "airplane Earth"?
Where from will come external air to blow through atmosphere and replace it?

Correct.
There's no air outside.
The system is as closed as closed car.
Even the car is not airtight, but it won't stop the bee.

Yes. The earth does not move 'under' the speeding ball. The speeding ball moves with the earth just as it was moving with the earth before it was thrown. That momentum isn't lost once it is thrown.

If it's near the equator it's a bit over 1670 km/hr, but who cares? It makes no difference.

Quote from: dutchy

Near enough to 0, relative to the ball!

Quote from: dutchy
Does the baseball reach it's prefered target ?
I don't know, he might be a crappy pitcher. Next question?

So, dutchy doesn't understand the rotating Globe and that's supposed to be evidence that the earth is flat.
Well done!  That seems to make as much sense as Eric Dubay's "proofs"and jeranism's videos.

PS How fast would a Foucault pendulum rotate at the equator?
How much Coriolis effect is there at at the equator?
Before leaving the pitcher's hand the ball has the same 1500 km/hr (or whatever) west to east velocity as the earth and the pitcher.

Hey Mr Wonderful since we are talking about the Earth's rotation. Please  tell me why Coriolis effect only works on bullets and toilets and not airplanes.
Try again! The Coriolis effect has no discernable effect on toilets, so flush that stupid idea.

Have you ever seen a couple of people in uniforms go into a little room at the front of the 'plane (the pointy end)?
Well that's the driver and assistant, though people in the know call them both pilots, with the boss being the Captain and the other is other the First Officer.

These two have thingos a bit like steering wheels, though they call them yokes, that rotate and move back and forth.
Now the pilot flying the aircraft steers the plane to keep it on course irrespective of any crosswinds and other disturbances.

Oh, I forgot to mention Coriolis! No matter, it's so trivial compared to these crosswinds and other disturbances that we can forget it.

But, very long range bullets are a different matter. I have never yet seen a pilot on a bullet steering it and for high velocity rounds cross winds have some effect,  but nowhere near as much on a much slower moving aircraft.
The Coriolis is no more than the projectile moving north or south with the earth's surface velocity at the firing point imposed on it.
WhIle it moves north or south the projectile retains its original E-W velocity,  but the earth's W->E surface velocity changes, altering the trajectory relative to the earth slightly.

In any case, the Coriolis effect is very minor out to a couple of thousand yards, being no more than say 4" at 1000 yds.
It only becomes significant in long range artillery and these days the targeting computer sorts out the details.

Don't let it bother you though.
It isn't the cause of your irregular trajectory, that's from sneaking a drink when the grownups weren't looking.

But really, kiddies like you should leave the drinks and the guns to the adults. You can learn all about both when you grow up.

If you do want to read about it from a completely unbiased source, read this,  Long Range Shooting: External Ballistics – The Coriolis Effect

I wish there was independent surveyors to give real data. I was sometimes doubtful when working out with my fragrant Phew FE map by quoting their data

Los Angeles - Beijing is around 1.25 of FE radius.

That's preconception.
Why is the land "curved"? It has to do with a body below the sun n moon and under the ground. Both follow the sun's n moon's journey on their paths.

It is just a local curve with changing conditions all the time. Nothing's related to the assumed "spherical earth".

Thanks for the info, anyway. It should be the governments' task to provide the right data for earth map.

Preconception?
They measured sphericity and defined NAUTICAL mile as the consequence.

And if the Earth was flat, how could SEA have "local curve"?
What do you think why is it called NAUTICAL mile?

EDIT: For now I have just one more question for you:
HOW can angle between two verticals be in any way changed by any shape of the ground between them?

I don't have to fight about anything.
These things are not about me.
When one points facts out, they speak for themselves.
The main goal in all that is simplicity.

Ha ha ha!
Oh my goodness!

What would happen if I was standing on an open trailer.
Truck was pulling it along at 30 MPH and I jumped straight up.

Would I end up laying on the road, all busted up
Or would I land back on the trailer.

Like I said, you're always good for a laugh.

Do the same thing on a turntable.

Not sure whether you mean pitch on a turntable or
Put a turntable ion a trailer and jump up.
Show me a Flat Earth map that works.
