The FE timeline is much more impressive than that of the RE usurpers. Observe the now most inaccurate statement ever made on the internet.
Really?
What I see is that until say 300 to 500 BC various civilisations (the Chinese "came a
round" much later) did believe the earth to be
locally flat.
But at least they believed what they actually observed and their "models" did have a real explanation of sunrises and sunsets, etc.
In their cosmology, the celestial objects were commonly on one or more spheres enclosing the earth.
After about 300 BC the belief in a flat earth was not widespread in Western and Middle Eastern civilisations,
though there was some opposition to the Globe in "the Church" till around the time is
the Venerable Bede.
The early cosmology carried over to Ptolemy's time and much later, in the 13th century to
John of Sacrobosco's time.
By that stage, these celestial spheres were thought to be a very great distance from earth.
That early flat earth belief was nothing like the modern flat earth ideas put forward by
Samuel Birley Rowbotham with it's close sun, moon, planets and stars circling in a celestial plane above the earth!
This modern,
Rowbothian, Flat Earth fails completely in that it cannot even explain such simple things like sunrises, sunsets and the apparent movement of the celestial objects.
So,
Gotham, please describe your "FE timeline" that "is much more impressive than that of the RE usurpers".
