MS got the Nobel Prize physics for his work about structures of matter in the 1920’s. So 1945 the Swedish government asked MS to be head of Swedish military, secret weapons research and build a Swedish atomic bomb. MS agreed subject to all findings becoming public after proper peer review. The Swedish government didn’t like that and asked MS to shut up about his finding that nuclear weapons were fake news and propaganda.

At what point did MS find that nuclear weapons were fake?  As near as I can tell, the Swedish government shut him down before he even began his research because they didn't want the research released to the public.

Re MS I think he met Niels Bohr 1945 and discussed making a-bombs. Niels was a Danish friend and also Nobel Prize winner, who had been recruted by Roosevelt to build a fake a-bomb. Bohr was not popular when he returned to Denmark/Sweden 1945. A scientist should not use his knowledge building weapons of mass destruction vaporizing children and women, people thought. I assume Bohr told MS that the whole thing was a hoax/propaganda, etc, etc.

MS got $1M from Rockefeller to improve his cyclotron 1945 and to run is private research lab. It never produced any new research. The staff said later they had found or made a new atom #102 Nobelium but it was probably just nonsense. Plenty of false physicists have later got Nobel Prizes, e.g. this year. Yes, WM, having survived WW2, watched the KGB running slave camps in Saxony, Germany. Of course he knew what was going on below ground of those slave camps. The German slaves were cutting holes in the ground. Of no value at all.

Well, I can't imagine that the holes were of much value to the slave laborers, but that doesn't say anything about the value of what was coming out of those holes to Soviet bomb makers.

You wanted to discuss space travel. IMHO only a one-way robot/instrument orbital flight around Earth is feasible. Any findings by the instruments must then be relayed electronically down to Earth. The rest is BS. Just the radiation fields in low Earth orbits will kill any human being there at once but, regardless, there is no way to brake, re-enter and land on Earth again.
