YouTube

Youtube links are still not embedding properly. They won't at all in CN, and they are kinda weird on the rest of the forum. Some people just get a blank space where the video should be.

I use Firefox, so everywhere but CN the videos work but they're not normal looking.  I think some people on mobile are having different issues.

I get no video anywhere. Kinda refreshing.

I'm a bit knee deep in reworking our front pages to not be retarded when search engines look at it; I'll add it to my list for this weekend, hopefully today but maybe Sunday morning.

On a related note, in a week I have a week off at the beach; I'll spend some time then working on other issues, so make sure I'm aware of them so I can plan accordingly.

I'm using Chrome and don't get videos either.  Just a blank space.  Happening on multiple machines both Windows 7 and 10.  they do appear to work in Edge, Internet Explorer and Firefox.

I use Chrome and Chromium on Android, Linux, and Windows (at work).  Occasionally, I see the embeded video, but the rest of the time, I see a blank area.  A couple of weeks back, I would get a blank black rectangle, but now not even that.

I get pretty much the same running Chrome, Chromium, Firefox, Seamonkey  on Linux,  just a blank space.

It's not an inability of the browser to render the video, as you can select "quote" on the offending post, select the video url and it plays ok,  so something else is the problem.

Any chance that the YouTube embedding will get fixed for the Tintagel theme?  It's the one that I use because the current default theme is just too damned ugly.

I didn't get time this weekend to complete this, but soon.

Oh, since you are still working on it, I wanted to add that if you try to use the short youtube link so that it won't embed, it tries to embed that now. You just get a blank space.

While waiting for the youtube thing to be fixed,  what platforms/browsers work with the current forum software?

I can see youtube videos on the iPhone with Safari,  but nothing with Firefox Seamonkey Chrome Chromium on Linux

I'm using Firefox and I can see videos everywhere except CN.

I'm working on this now (finally, sorry guys). CN makes sense to me, as does any other theme that its not functioning on and confirms what I know the problem to be.

I'm going to reimplement the version I wrote a while ago and remove this one. No one will have videos for hopefully the next hourish

No, Flat Earth General.  the "clouds illuminated from below" thread.  Though it may be because rabinoz is trying to use [youtube] tags instead of pasting the link directly.

The videos are appearing on a mobile browser using the tintagel theme.
