Flat Earth Community Connect

Hello Flat Earth Community! Has anyone else been annoying their friends with all their flat earth rants?

For some time now I've been seriously looking into the flat earth. I've been questioning the globe model and have been trying to get that conversation going. However, for the average person who has not looked into this topic, the flat earth theory seems ridiculous and often gets dismissed with laughter. Even when a flat earth discussion does not get laughed at, it usually goes something like this..."Why don't boats sail off? What about gravity? whats under the flat earth?" etc.

That is why I am making this post. I understand when a flat earther wants to talk flat earth, they don't just want to introduce somebody to the topic as that conversation just ends up scratching the surface. Sometimes when a flat earther wants to talk flat earth, they want to 'dive right in' and really try to figure this thing out. Sometimes flat earthers want to talk to other people who have realized the deception on their own, and are already asking the same questions just for a more analytical conversation.

I think a great aspect of flat earth research, is that it really does unite us all; we were all lied to, we are all willing to putting our egos aside and admit it, and we are all looking for answers. Now that a cyber community of flat earthers exist, now that people all over the plane are discussing this topic, I think it is appropriate for us to network and form acquaintances with one another.

Imagine if every flat earther had a text or e-mail chain going with at least 5 - 10 other flat earthers, or weekly phone calls, or something likewise. How fast would information be able to spread amongst us? What kind of resources could we create if we establish a real community of people, not just profiles and commenters? How many of us would show up at the Flat Earth International Conference this year if we carpooled? I think we have a lot to gain here, simply by reaching out and trying to make a relationship with one another.

In response to such sentiment, I would like to share my email address and I encourage anyone and everyone to email me. If you have any random question about the flat earth, if you have an interesting article you want to send my way please do so. If you are interested in a phone or skype conversation or maybe even a debate, please contact me and I would be happy to setup such a thing.

The following is my email

behemoth.the.dinosaur@gmail.com

P.S. I live in Calgary, Alberta. Any other Calgarian flat earthers out there, let me know and we’ll plan a meet up.

P.P.S. If a bunch of people post their email addresses in the comments below, someone can use all those email addresses and make a big ‘Whatsapp’ group discussion board with it.

That's what this site is for. Email would probably be less effective.

True, the idea is to create a similar resource, as this site. This is the difference, if i had my own group of people sharing emails back and forth, who thought likewise as me. And you had your own group of people who thought likewise to you, doing your own thing. Than not only would we have a place to share our opinions to 'new-to-the-topic' readers such as this site, we would also have our own resources to share our opinions with others who can take what we say and expand from it (as opposed to this site where people take what you say, and present the counter argument).

Also this site does have a problem with people who come here just to 'troll' so to speak. Take for example, you th3rm0m3t3r0, in your comment here, telling me that emails aren't effective, i see you also put a 'Danasoft sign' so as to give me the impression that you have acquired my personal information. This is something i personally find frustrating when trying to publish a post. If anyone else out there finds such responses they get on this website, as annoying as me. Next time you put a post on this site, also copy and paste it to my email, and i promise to read it with an open mind and respond to it with with respect for your research (to the best of my ability's i will try to do this) even if i may not agree

The 'Danasoft sign' was just an example th3rm0m3t3r0, i dont mean to call you out or accuse you of anything.

I honestly just leave it in my sig to piss people off. I'll admit that.

What you're suggesting is an echo chamber. Controversy drives thought towards progression. Conjecture is important. That's the main problem with what you're suggesting. Opposition is important, and you're suggesting to effectively eliminate that.

Great points, I definitely agree with some of what you say. Conjecture and opposition, most important when aiming towards progress. However, I in no way, would like to stop the debate. Im just saying lets start a discussion, just us flat earthers, on the side to present our ideas to one another.  All the while still using forums like this to present the discussion to the opposition. Sound fair?

I am not the only one to think that comments can get out of hand, quite quickly on THIS particular site.

You might consider requesting privileges to post in the True Believers board here. Others can read what you post, but can't reply there, while you propose and, ideally, refine ideas in a relatively friendly environment. If someone else wants to question something you post, they can start a thread elsewhere, but you don't have to bother to reply in-line, or at all.

This site, to its credit, allows "non believers" to post at all. In my opinion, many, but certainly not all, of the comments that some consider "out of hand" are entirely legitimate questions about often obvious shortcomings in proposed ideas. Without that, this site would become another useless echo chamber.
