48 years ago today, men from the planet Earth first set foot on the Moon.

Quite an amazing achievement, using slide rules, and less computing power than a modern telephone!

I just thought you guys would like to celebrate....

And those 1969 dipers were really something too. Their human excrement was ''catched'' in multi layered, mulit purpose gold foil that was developed by an unknown supplier.
Hurray for Neil and his buddies.

I am not so sure that the computers were inferior to a modern smartphone.  A single computer, yes, but NASA had scores of enormous, custom-made computers that, collectively, were probably very impressive.

Especially when you consider that virtually all of the computing power was applied to solving the problem at hand, and the problem was an accurate numerical solution to a well-defined mathematical problem instead of keeping a user with a short attention span entertained by moving image pixels around a high-resolution screen.

Houston, it's been a real change for us. Now we are able to see stars again and recognize constellations for the first time on the trip. It's - the sky is full of stars. Just like the nightside of Earth.

His press conference statement was a specific answer to a specific question, which also says that "We could see stars through the optics".

Good answer. Turns out we can see them.

Most of my questions about the moon landing are answered pretty easily. That's why I am of the opinion we did land on the moon.
