Writing in clouds from NASA.

We've all seen the photo of "sex" written in the clouds in the picture of the globe. In another forum I'm on a flat earther brought it up to me. I recall someone debunking it but can't recall where I've heard it. So I'm asking for sources or simple logic. Thanks.

Simple logic:

• Human vision is wired for pattern recognition
• In fact, it is SO wired for it that false positives occur a lot (the face on Mars, for example)
• Thousands of satellite images have been taken over the years
• There is a finite statistical likelihood that somewhere in at least one of those images, a pattern that kinda sorta looks like a word will appear
• If you had a job faking earth photos for NASA, would you really jeopardize your job (and maybe your life) with a juvenile stunt like what is proposed?

I haven't yet. I'll go look for it.

Found it. Yes, it has a few regions which people might think looks like that.

But it is very far from clear.

So I doubt they photoshopped it in.
Just like I doubt they photoshop the clouds that are shaped like bunnies into reality.
Humans just like recognising things they see. So much so that they will often fill in the blanks.

If you see someone in the distance and can't quite make out who they are, you are more likely to recognise them as someone you know, then when you get closer, you realise they aren't.

Your mind is analysing data filled with lots of noise and making a guess of what it is based upon things you experience.

Actually on the NASA "Blue Marble" images there are many instances of clouds that are photoshopped in. Even a quick glance will show plenty that have just been cloned in like in this image.

I've seen the SEX image and although I don't know where to find it I just assume it was someone having some fun while doing the same.

The clouds are altered/added in as the image is a composite of many photos taken of the globe at different times. Clouds change constantly so would be impossible to join when compositing.

Not always true. The Apollo 17 image shows no such photoshopping, because photoshop didn't exist. The clouds in that image, and those in a 16mm video taken after TLI can also be found in a satellite image taken shortly after.

There is a page out there that makes it quite clear that the so-called 'SEX' image is a composite taken over quite some time.

Several of the NASA blue marble images are not single images.
Instead they are composite images, composed of numerous images taken from a satellite orbiting earth in a LEO.
As a result of this regions of the Earth in the composite image can have pictures taken quite some time apart.
This allows a cloud to drift from one region to another.

The clouds were in a separate layer, but they were still a composite image taken over a few days.
