Besides Sandokhan there is literally not one single flat-earther on this thread.  What exactly are you arguing against?

Your right the echo in hear is scary....you tell me. I think they have all run away. they sent out their familiar Jane...but I think she's gone too, so it's just us!
You can call me Gwyneth
I said that
Oh for the love of- Logical formulation:
FET is wrong, unsupported by evidence, and most models are refuted on multiple fronts; those that aren't tend not to make enough predictions to be realistically falsifiable
Jane said these

Jane believes in a round earth too, yiu know.
I wonder how obnoxious I can make my signature?
Please give me ideas.

But as I said to be accurate it's not as simple as you are claiming....
But that's the rub....if predictions are shown to be true and accurate then it points to the underlying principal being true also. I can understand why you are reluctant to agree that the various underlying scientific laws, Kepler and Newton are true.....it would kinda loose you your credibility on this site as a fence sitter.
I think it's something like three saros cycles before the exact same type of eclipse over the same area. This isn't some technical fact, this is observation. It is that simple. Yes, there's a much more complicated way of doing it, but no one in their right mind is going to go for that when it is a simple fact that if you have records of eclipses over the last 54 years, 1 month and a bit you can say what type of eclipse is going to happen where, end of.
Just repeating a complicated way of doing this doesn't mean the simple way doesn't exist.

You don't need to know a thing about underlying principle to predict eclipses, you just need eyes, and a few historical records. People were predicting eclipses long before even Galileo, are you denying that?

No, she's a fence sitter! It doesn't matter how many times she says the earth is round. We will assimilate her into the flat side someday.
I'm sorry. Am I to understand that when you have a boner you like to imagine punching the shit out of Tom Bishop? That's disgusting.

Nah, not a fence sitter, sorry  :P Just bored of arguing for RET. Arguing for FET's much more of a challenge.

Assimilate? You're starting to sound an awful lot like a penguin  :o

I think I'd rather go with the "borg"!

Haven't you wondered why FEers can vanish for random stretches of time though?

Firstly, where did these records originally come from? Did they materialise out of thin air?And how were these records first produced? What was the understanding that made these 'simple' recrods possible? Certinally not DET!

The Saros (more properly "Chaldean") cycle was recorded by multiple flat earth cosmologists including notably the Chaldeans, Egyptians, Chinese, and Mayans. The understandings were based on observations recorded after many, many years within which, as Jane so thoroughly noted, are several families of Chaldean Cycles occurring or active at any given time. The Mayans had even refined cycles for the solar eclipses, which is a much, much more difficult task. I am unaware of a single prediction for eclipses that has not depended on the Chaldean Cycle and instead uses some form of Newtonian or Keplerian system. Please provide the work for your 3-body system's math, so that it can be critiqued.

Quote
The existence of the planet Neptune was not made not by simply looking up records! A mathematical prediction of its position was made based on the works of both Kepler and Newton. When astronomer Johann Gottfried Galle pointed his telescope at the calculated position....the rest is history.
Myth is not spelt h-i-s-t-o-r-y.

Quote
Your constant evading of the question, by either the use of smoke screens or in this case deliberately down playing the intellectual achievements of the past is staggering. It either comes from a genuine poor grasp of the subject
Quoting to highlight irony.

Quote
You also fail to address what is the core question, how can these accurate predictions be made and shown to be true,  if Newton and Kepler and all what they established is not also true?
These predictions were faithfully made by flat earthers for centuries, nay millenia, before the occultists Newton or Kepler ever appeared on the scene.

I still believe Jane's recent extended absense was due to a crisis of faith in globularism. Pushing this point is likely to lead to entrenchment. Allow Jane to process his doubts in his own time, as this is a very tumultuous time for many.

After purchasing and studying Newton's alchemical works in 1942, economist John Maynard Keynes, for example, opined that "Newton was not the first of the age of reason, he was the last of the magicians".

Kind of a pity in my humble opinion.
Why would that be inciting terrorism?  Lorddave was merely describing a type of shop we have here in the US, a bomb-gun shop.  A shop that sells bomb-guns.

but I'm sure Jean-Luc Picard can offer some first hand advice.

Down to actually getting a Masters, sorry to spoil the illusion  :P

Wait, does that mean the FEers that vanish is due to a crisis of faith in FET?
