I oppose science yet there is now a global experiment
« on: August 19, 2016, 09:35:52 AM »
The global experiment is a big thing and I implore you to participate in it.
the rules:
1)you have to want badly that the earth is flat.
2)you have to proof by science, only by the method of science that the earth is flat.
3)You have to prove flat earth without claiming of fakery.
4)Gravity is true, yet the sun don't have to be round for the sake of the experiment, now prove flat earth without claiming gravity is false.
I oppose science so I can't participate in it.
but I say to you globe earthers and flat earthers good luck.

Globe earth:star trails prove the earth is a globe
Flat earth:star trials prove the earth is flat (Eric dubay)

Globe earth:ships beyond the horizon prove the earth is a globe.
Flat earth: ships beyond the horizon can be restore sight with zooming prove the earth is flat, Chicago skyline seen from 60 miles show the earth is flat.

Ready ? Go!

Globe earth:many experiments show the validity of round earth
Flat earth: Quantum mechanics open new view toward classical science and in some cases there are inconsistencies between classical science and quantum mechanics(physics).

My brother claim:
Globe earth:great circle above Greenland and Nunavut prove the earth is round.

Flat earth: Jet Streams along this line make it possible, showing round earth claim is wrong according to science.

Are you basically just repeating a bunch of talking points off a youtube video?

Have you bothered to actually look into any of these?

First of all, show some courtesy.
second, I saw hundreds of videos either flat earth video or round earth videos, I am not specialist in science, yet I spoke with and I checked it many times. now use other tactics to prove your point.

Easy there.  I'm just trying to get a feel on where you're coming from.  A lot of these points sound like a list Eric Dubay put together.  The problem is none of them stand up to any scrutiny.  Some are just flat out wrong.

For example, restoring the hull of a ship with a telescope.  Doesn't happen.  Seriously, hang out at a pier with a set of binoculars and see for yourself.

I have no idea what you've seen, so without resorting to name-calling all I can do here is to report that I actually HAVE seen it for myself multiple times.  From a Navy ship, where this sort of thing has the potential for actual life-or-death consequences.  Using the kind of binoculars pictured here (with a human in the photo for scale) I have NEVER ONCE been able to restore an over-the-horizon ship or shoreline to full visibility.  I have been able to sharply see the horizon line cutting across an over-the-horizon object, however, and used that information to determine distance to target, which was then confirmed by radar measurements.

It's probably not really fair to use the word "binoculars" for an instrument that is perhaps more accurately termed a "pair of telescopes" but there we are.

Nice.

I can't wait to see what counter argument they have for that.  My guess is accusing the entire navy of being a secret branch of nasa and making binoculars with image processing built into them to fool people.

I sometimes have to urge to make an alt and just post the most nonsensical counter arguments to anyone debunking the round earth.  The main thing that stops me is that they have the market corned on ridiculous counter arguments.  No matter what I make up it'll sound reasonable in comparison.

Great news silicon! We have a member of the navy who just joined this thread. Maybe if you explained your issues with your telescope that can lift a ship out of the ocean just by zooming in on it he could explain what you're doing wrong.

That's the problem with the best crackpots. They are simply unbeatable in the stupidity stakes. Us sane, educated people have a handicap in that we cannot so easily envisage and swallow garbage with such finesse.

Personally, I find that handicap to be an immense advantage!

Here is the raw video of his 'debunk'.  Skip to 8:24.  Notice how when he zooms the ship comes into view and visibility of the hull increases.  The reason it does not become entirely visible is due to the limitations on his zoom.

Try again.

Hull is still below the horizon.  Is there a video out there of the ship visibly rising back up to full height as magnification is increased?  No, there isn't, because there is no way for the lens to do this.

Finding those videos was the weirdest thing.  Lots of videos showing the effect, not as a flat earth thing just for fun.  Some videos which demonstrate how zooming in will NOT restore the hull.  And here's the odd part.  There were several flat earthers who posted videos they claim to show the effect but if you watch them it doesn't.  They don't even have the courtesy to use trick camera work.

That second video was a video by a flat earther and if you watch it through you can tell their struggling to make it at least seem like it's been restored but if you watch it on mute it looks just like a hull disappearing video with lousy camera work.

Sometimes FEer videos can be truly extraordinary. They stand there and should loudly things like "see, the ship doesn't disappear over the horizon!" while proudly showing a video where it does exactly that.  I know we call them blind fools, but I didnt realise that 'blind' is in some cases literally true!
