She is the same judge who appointed the Special Master to review materials seized from Mar-a-Lago.

I skimmed through it.  It seems incredibly black and white.  This doesn't seem to be harmless fluff that's just overclassified.  It looks like material that would genuinely be a threat to national security.

It's impossible to argue this was just a careless mistake.  What's more it looks like this was driven by either ego or some kind of pack rat mentality. 

I don't know how he isn't going to prison over this.  Reality Winner went to prison over much less than this.

This has been out in public for a while.  The newest information that just came out blows up two defenses I hear sometimes.

1.  Trump is too stupid to understand the legality of classified material.  Therefore there's no criminal intent.

2.  This was probably harmless material that was stamped as classified because the government likes to classify everything.  No harm.  No Foul.

I'm hearing an interesting tactic coming these candidates.  A lot of them are promising to pardon Trump.  It's a sound strategy I suppose.

Yeah it's a real head scratcher.  I'm certain that every step of the way for the last 3 years there's been an uninterrupted stream of lawyers loudly reminding him that if he doesn't give these up then he will go to prison for a long time.

Did he plan to sell these state secrets or did he think he was so untouchable that he could survive this?

With Trump it's usually money or ego.  I get the impression he just liked to have stuff that others thought was valuable in some way.  Just a stupid narcissistic egomaniac.

A more cynical person might think he was going to be selling it to the highest bidder.

What I'm getting is that far from being a witch hunt, the DoJ have bent over backwards to accommodate him, giving him a ridiculous amount of time to return the documents and he deliberately tried to hide them.  Any regular pleb with government clearance found to have squirreled away even one top secret file would have the book thrown at them.

Maybe he just saw them as trophies or his property, but he doesn't appear to have treated them as if they were valuable at all.  Although by all accounts he wasn't one for actually reading anything while he was president, so who knows what he was thinking?

Trump is claiming that he has a right to those documents because of the Presidential Records Act.  However, it seems that he missed this part of the act:
