Here's just one example of how the Russian disinformation campaign works. They drop news stories into the right wing media bubble, and hope that enough percolate up to Fox or generate outrage on MSNBC or CNN,
I don't really understand why the "right wing bubble" can't generate this shit itself?
There is a tidal wave of disinformation out there anyway, the Russians are just adding some froth.
Probably because the Russians are so good at it. They play both sides, I bet that a lot of the BLM extremist groups are Russian based, and the right wing nutters as well.
Everyone thinks it's just about Trump. It's not. It's about destabilizing western liberal democracies in general, that includes Poland, Hungary, UK and USA. Do you seriously think Brexit would have got passed without Russian's stirring the pot on both sides.
They have weaponized information warfare to the extent that you've got a bumbling clown like Boris Johnson as PM, and the country is run by Dominic Cummings well known to be a Putin sympathizer.

On 13 November, Prime Minister Theresa May gave the annual speech at the Lord Mayor’s banquet. She had some strong words for Russia:
“It is seeking to weaponise information. Deploying its state-run media organisations to plant fake stories and photo-shopped images in an attempt to sow discord in the West and undermine our institutions.
So I have a very simple message for Russia.
We know what you are doing. And you will not succeed. Because you underestimate the resilience of our democracies, the enduring attraction of free and open societies, and the commitment of Western nations to the alliances that bind us.”
Boris then proceed to block the release of the report prior to the election. Theresa May was wrong about one thing, the Russians succeeded.
