Whenever you want. Now is fine. That was a serious question though: "why are you freaking out about it now of all times?" The answer: because a certain political party is emphasizing it to use as a deflection tactic to dodge blame. (edit: I'm using the collective "you". Not you specifically.)
I urge you to have an earnest discussion about the problems in the news media. All I ask is that you don't give in to the pressure to use it as a deflection tactic.
Recommended ground rules for discussing problems with the news media:
1. Start a new thread for it.
2. Limit complaints to specific shows/companies/people, with specific examples. Most problems don't apply to everyone involved in the industry equally. From there, you can carefully build up generalizations if you think they are warranted. Just don't start with generalizations.
Why start freaking out about politicians lying now of all times?
Good question. Two reasons:
1. The sheer volume of lies is on a completely different scale than normal.
2. There is a possibility of an impending showdown. What happens if Mueller announces serious charges against Trump? The lies, deflections, and counter accusations will come thick and heavy. Deflections to "fake news media" will be central. I worry about the ramifications for our country if 40% of the population believes Trump.
I disliked the media for a lot further back then Trump's inauguration that's for sure. Nothing stupider than dijon mustardgate IMO.
I consider myself a media-hating-hipster as well. I hated the news media
before it was cool. Now that it's cool, I constantly find myself trying to pull people back from the
other extreme. Public perception is always a pendulum with too little dampening. Such is life.
You're making a big deal of how Trump lied about the inauguration crowd size. It's kind of like accusing Texans of lying whenever they open their mouths because everything's always bigger and better in Texas even when it really isn't. But it suits your Trump bashing fetish to make a big deal out of how it's all a great big terrible awful lie! I consider you a little unbalanced when it comes to Trump tbh. I just pointed out how I thought it was as much the media's fault as anything, which I still believe. There is nothing wrong with posting a comment like that. If you're worried about this thread going OT start a new thread yourself.
There's a difference between lighthearted bragging and seriously claiming that Texas is geographically bigger than Alaska. Texans are proud, but they aren't delusional. Usually. As I stated before, the actual subject of the lie wasn't very important. I was only using that as an example, because it very clearly portrays his character. There are many, many more examples.
You can continue to say that it was the media's fault, but I am utterly baffled as to why you believe it. They did not force or trick Trump into lying. It's not their fault that he lied. It's Trump's fault that Trump lied. I have no idea why it would be anyone else's fault. This isn't complicated logic.
