I have sailed in the southern hemisphere.  GPS worked the whole time traveling between South America and New Zealand. Unless the boat owner was somehow fooling me.  Since it was a private boat and I had access to the GPS receiver I doubt he was.

I have met people who have sailed to more areas in the South Pacific than I have and have not met anyone who claimed their GPS stopped working because it was no longer getting a signal.

Reading sailing guides for different areas that give navigation  advice, like best times to make crossings and routes, none mention lack of GPS coverage.  Most assume the reader will be using it.

i do though think its funny that centuries of sailing with the stars and now people who claim to be smarter use and need GPS..

lol.. its like without a lighter who can start a fire any more?

That is a perfect analogy. With these new and improved tools, why learn the old way?

Starting fires using traditional methods (such as with a bow or flint) are unreliable and often impractical, just like old navigation systems. Its much easier to just whip out a lighter and use the technology you have to do the job much better.

i agree.. look at what the world has come to..

gardening is a lost art..

people think hunting is cruel to animals.. but will eat a fake diabetic burger made of GMO's

the world is only science and numbers based off pictures

everyone sees whats on TV and creates an identity

what kills me is how people think they are this or that..

if you were born on an island and had to figure it out would you really think
the earth was round, you were a female but born a male
and there was nothing that created you?

its hard to say what anyone would think without what you were told or you had heard or saw..

to say things are outdated or old ways is foolish..

Not really.

I don't see anything grong with vegans and vegetarians. There's also a lot of untruths about transgenics, I suppose it would be better to start a thread about them to discuss their pros and cons.

The existence of the Vatican, american fundamentalism or Daesh and their yihad refute your statement.

Quite inconvenient, actually. Pointy rocks, bugs, lack of thermal isolation...

Universal as in "anywhere". If you don't like it, you must really hate Miss and Mister Universe pageants.

Like saying you can go to Andromeda Galaxy. You can't prove it doesn't work in Andromeda Galaxy unless you have been there to experience it yourself, isn't that how being zetetic works?

Again, if you haven't found a place that doesn't have GPS coverage, you can't prove that there exists a place that doesn't have coverage, that's how zeteticism works, you have to have personally experienced it.

Who determined that GPS works in the Andromeda Galaxy in order for you people to determine that it is "Universal"?  Also, you have no idea how Zeteticism works, idiot, so don't pretend you do.  It does not mean that you have to personally measure everything, dummy.  How many more fallacies are you going to post today?  My guess is 12.  ::)

Zeteticism is only believing your senses, you need to have personally seen something for it to be true. As all experiences of GPS I have had show it to work, it is universally working to my senses, just as never having perceived curvature of the earth makes it universally true that it isn't curved.
Trust me, I am the head of the Reformed Zetetic Society.

I will give you a "Tom Bishop" answer
"Have YOU personally proved that GPS does not work in the Andromeda Galaxy?
Otherwise we must accept that it does.

Actually he used that counter when I had the temerity to claim "At either equinox the sun rises almost in the east everywhere on earth (except at the poles)."

And here we have master-derailer Jroa again. Who suddenly accepts the fact that there are other galaxies. Anyway:
GPS will not work if you are far away from earth (my prediction, feel free to argue against it). However, on earth it provides universal coverage, what was meant by inquisitive and deliberately misinterpreted by you.

GPS two-line element sets.  Do with them what you will, but they each contain all the information you need to describe their orbits.
