Celestial sphere
« on: December 26, 2015, 03:31:05 PM »
The celestial sphere is used in astronomy. Explanation of what it is, http://www.astro.cornell.edu/academics/courses/astro201/cel_sphere.htm
The stars are mapped onto the sphere. You can only see the stars in the half of the sphere centred around you. No more, no less (excluding light pollution).
This technique would make no sense on a flat earth, and wouldn't work, how come it does.

P.S. How come stars visible at the tip of south America  are also visible in Australia, when nether can see the north star, which is between the two.
Edit: http://abyss.uoregon.edu/~js/ast121/lectures/lec02.html Not strongly related but it's intresting to see how the model of the solar system has developed, and that the earth has been known to be round for a long time, maybe some people will realise they have gone backwards with FET.

Also how does Australia get shorter daylight hours in the winter on the flat earth?

So FET is fucked, you can prove that the celestial sphere works as a map of the stars easily, so if there was evidence that it didn't work there would be evidence. The truths is out there, in the stars ;D.

Its ignored because they cant comprehend it.
FEers don't know how it works on a spherical model never mind trying to bodge a version that works for FET.

Compounding FEers Issues is; to even start believing it FET, you have to be naturally a lil bit on the slow side, a bit below average. Ironically, those are the same kind of people easily misled into weird, nonsensical beliefs. Once they have this belief they are convinced they are finally smart.

Don.t Take away their smarts, it hurtz.  ;)

Yeah, but they might not all be stupid, some of them could have average intelligence or a bit higher, and are just arrogant enough that they have discovered the truth that no one else knows.
But with the number of views this has, someone should of answered by now.

No. That's not the reason. It's actually the contrary: They comprehend it well, maybe even better than you and me. And that's why they ignore it: This cannot really be used for trolling. jroa can't just barge in here and say you're calling anyone a liar, or any of those stupid claims he does everywhere. Or ronxyz claiming there's no proof for the flat earth, just like that. Out of the blue...

For if they did that, would be kinda like shouting "We are trolling everyone". Not literally...

They do not believe the flat earth. They just toss falacies puportedly to try and make others angry etc. In other words: Trolling

No, I am talking about Guests.  There are hundreds and sometimes thousands.  They don't register, they don't post, most are probably bots randomly opening threads, but they suck up the bandwidth from the rest of us.  Sometimes, it gets so bad that they crash the server.  Have you never noticed that the site always 5 or 6 users and 500 guests on at any given time?

Answer to what question?  Why the sky appears to be round?  Even the round Earth scientists will tell you that it is an illusion.  What am I supposed to answer that a quick google search coould not answer?  Are you done shaking each other's dicks yet, or should we keep ignoring you until your circle jerk is over?

I am sorry, but I must have neglected to mention that we have a wiki and a FAQ that answer these basic questions.  You might want to give those a try.

If it had those answers, I would not ask the question about star paths ~2 months ago and which remained unanswered in a clear way. The only answer was hand-waved gears. The wiki page has nothing about star paths.

It also hand-waves seasons giving no specific information on what kind of force/thing bends the light or moves the Sun in and out.

Not to mention that articles on wiki contradict each other in few places.

No the problem is that is you can see half of the celestial sphere (map of the stars) depending on your position, that only works if the earth is round.
The  celestial sphere is a map of the stars, it always accurately matches what you see in the sky, if the earth was flat it would be distorted, it's not.

If the Earth was round, you would not expect to see half of the stars from the surface.  I don't know what all you are so confused about.

Yes you would, read the link in the OP. And learn geometry.
At the north poll you could see all stars that are north of the planet, any that are south would be blocked by the planet.
Edit: Wow, for trying to get the admins to admit they are wrong they are threatening to ban me.
Morton's demon much!!!
I have conclusive prove that the earth is round, it's relevant to the whole site.
