If other planets are assumed to be discs as well, why do they look as though they are rotating when viewed through a telescope?

Actually false.  It says that they appear 2 dimensional.  Appearing 2 dimensional and being 2 dimensional are obviously different things.  I don't think the FE theory really revolves either way around the flatness of the planets.  They may be flat, they may be round,  They could even be some other shape.  Their shape doesn't change the shape of the Earth, and considering there are only 8-9 planets in the universe that we can actually observe, it wouldn't be that surprising for them to turn out to be different to the Earth.  We already know the Earth is substantially different in one very key factor (we have life) - who's to say there aren't other significant differences?

That's impossible.  If I build a telescope from scratch and it shows exactly the same results as one bought in a shop, then how could it be part of a conspiracy? (Unless ofcourse, you claim I am part of the conspiracy lol)

In anycase, the planets are most presumably round in either universe.

Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that Earth has to be a planet under the same classification.

2 things Beast.

1. You should really make an effort to try to read properly, this happens all the time. I'm not sure if you are visually impaired or if it's a manifestation of your debating methods.

2. The fact that a REer would know what's in the FAQ better than you do is not a good thing.

Do you see the term "appear" anywhere here? Is there anything in this sentence that would lead someone to think that the 2d aspect is merely an appearance? Doesn't the word "entirely" mean anything to you?

And yes, it has everything to do with the shape of the earth. Large Celestial bodies are all spherical, the earth is a large celestial body, therefore the earth is spherical.

Any way, my take on the question it that the flat earthers are saying that Mars Jupiter et al are flat. This is of course easy to debunk as anyone can find a video of Jupiter and its moons spinning.

Its very likely that the Earth is an anomoly. Given how many different factors differentiate Earth from the other planets.
And seeing them apear to be spinning is easily debunked. It could be that there is a conveyerbelt around the plants, so that the features on the planet revolve, but the planet itsself is 2D

extrasolar planets can and have been observed eclipsing their parent stars, as well has observing their gravatational affect on their parent stars causing them to wobbel when observed over a lengthy amount of time. there are hundreds of known extrasolar planets.
