How does it work in FE?
Short reminder:

The path is a semi-circle that is perpendilucar to the surface.
Explaination in globe setup is trivial.
But in FE? No DET please...
In FE the Sun would rise 45
o off the east direction and will set 45
o off the west (see famous FE picture with the Sun over the plane). So in fact there is only 90
o difference, not 180
o as observation provide. The Sun path is very consistent and straight, there is no room for optical effects unless you make up something that can bend the light by 45
o.
So, what kind of explaination do you have for that? If any at all?
