The Sun
« on: December 02, 2015, 05:16:22 PM »
I'm new to the FET, so I wondering if you could just answer this question.

I'm sure that all Flat Earthers believe that the Sun moves in a circular orbit above the "disk" of the Earth, and acts as a spotlight to shine light upon the Earth.

So, this is my question: If this were true, would there ever be an absence of the Sun? Please, let me elaborate further. If the Earth were shaped as a disk, shouldn't one be able to see some evidence of the Sun, even though it's diameter is 32 miles and is 3000 miles above the Earth (as said by this FE http://www.theflatearthsociety.org/forum/index.php?topic=52832.msg1712772#msg1712772)?

Also, one should be able to see the Sun, as light spreads out from it source. If you were to switch on a flashlight, the light spreads out. Even if you were to take the most accurate laser on Earth, the dot of light created by it would have a bigger diameter then the initial beam of light.

Thanks, Atlas.

you might be right, but dont forget that the disk (the earth) is bigger then the spotlight (the sun) ... the rays of the sun can't reach all the continents, the sun reflects its rays on the moon which sometimes appears to be illuminated from below, but sometimes illuminated laterally, this must prove that the sun, in such circonstance, would be shining in front of it, so imagine that the earth is a plate, and the sun a small point illuminating its semi-circle ! I hope this will help you to answer your question and personally I agree with it " the divider of the daybreak and has made the night for rest and the sun and moon for calculation. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing (GOD) " 6:96 the Holy Quran

Thanks, that makes sense.

I just wanted to clarify something; what is the diameter of the flat Earth? Isn't it the same?

Since FE model cannot give a proper value of the distance (it is not 3000 miles), asking such question has no point.

You can either find ~25.000 km or unknown. FE model cannot decide yet due to lack of evidence (?).

When are you brain washed people going to wake up to the realization , the suns a lasser & the moon a reflection of earth .

Dear Atlas,
according to my personal view, the earth is as infinite as the sky, the disk represents our world, but beyond the edge of ice, the earth remains just like a carpet.

Thanks mohamed!

The Sun we "see" in the sky is a focal point

Yes because the sun's rays do not travel forever and ever.  The sun's rays eventually fade.  It is that simple.

Also, one should be able to see the Sun, as light spreads out from it source.
Every day of your life, you have the chance to look up in the sky and see the sun is blocked by clouds

1 cloud can totally obscure the sun's rays.  Meditate upon that and then add a 2nd and then a 3rd and then a 4th cloud and voila!  It is night time!
