I'm curious to know as to what people's opinions on Communism are. Before you post anything though, I want to say this: I'm not talking about Russian "communism", but rather the true form of Communism, as set forth by Karl Marx's Communist Manifesto. So, what are your opinions?
While I do believe that is how the apostles and the early church lived for a generation or two after the coming of the Messiah, I don't think it lasted very long as those with power quickly put an end to it.
Without a leader of a truly pure heart, I do not believe it is a possible model.
Money and power corrupt.
Should The LORD return soon, we may see something like that in place.
How else could greed be quenched?
I'm not really sure what you're trying to say here. First off, this statement is incorrect:
Money and power corrupt.
In a communist society, the wealth is shared equally. There's no concept of money.
Secondly, this statement seems a little off for communism:
Without a leader of a truly pure heart, I do not believe it is a possible model.
I'd think that a communist society would have more of a democratic representative council + the whole of the people that makes decisions, rather than one leader.
I agree the concept of "no money" is ideal. Money is a concept drilled into us.
Barter seems frowned upon. Gold has been demonetized. We use a fiat paper currency called a federal reserve note? Our money is in fact these days debt. It all needs to be paid back to the banks WITH interest.
There is not enough "money" in circulation to pay all the debt plus interest back. I digress.
The representative council you spoke of is the crucial point. Who could you really trust with that kind
of authority. Communism does not work we have seen, Democracy does not work we have seen, Capitalism
does not work as all the "Capital" ends up in the hands of a few.The top 1 percent of the people now
control more wealth than the entire rest of the world! WTF?
Here is a snapshot of how it was done in the first century.
Acts:
32 And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.
33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
36 And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,
37 Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
