Tom Moore aka Sara H B Ranson
« on: November 22, 2006, 07:30:29 AM »
Ok so I've spent the time to actually read over "Sara H B Ranson's" websites and I wanted to say a few things.

First, Tom, I'm sorry for attacking you and for insulting you.  I was not fully aware of the situation at that time and I feel pretty bad about it now.

Secondly Tom, all the problems you talk about on your websites are not people ganging up and trying to get you.  I know you won't believe this but it's true.  Many of those people are actually trying to help you, but you also have to want to help yourself.  I think you're actually probably a fairly intelligent person and I'm sure that if you changed your attitude you could definitely go on to lead a peaceful life.

The way you treat people makes them defensive and dislike you.  From an independent perspective, while I can understand why they feel that way, I think it shows their lack of understanding and compassion for mental illness.

I think it would go along way if you could accept that people aren't out to get you and could comply with what they ask you to do.  I read through your documents and I see perfectly reasonable requests from people met with paranoia and delusional views of their motives.  I have very little experience with mentally ill people and I don't know if I can do anything to help, but I've also seen that you're an intelligent person and I think that if you try to think about things from a observational perspective maybe you can learn to fight your mental issues and become a more rational person.

In fact mentally ill people are usually more intelligent than the average person and mental illness is something that effects many people and cannot be helped.  It doesn't make you a bad person or stupid person.  I have very strong calf muscles but I still sometimes hurt them while other people I know who do not do any kind of physical exercise never hurt their calves.  You have something wrong with your brain, just like a calf muscle injury.  It's not your fault, it's not anybody else's fault.  It means as much about you as my calf injuries mean about me.  Please don't question this, accept it as the true.

When you have these conflicts with people, think to yourself "would Beast think this is rational behaviour or would he think I'm being paranoid?"  I am sure you can work out what I'd think about your actions.  I know you can do this and I know you are capable of leading a normal life.  You have to choose to do so first though.

I also think you really should go and see a dr and explain to him as much as you can about your mental illness.  You need to show him your websites and tell him how much time and effort you put into this.  You also need to not worry about the past.  Nobody is out to get you.  When somebody asks you to do something, it's for your best interests to do what they say, even if you don't think so.  Drop all the things you're doing to discredit Sarah Branson, and that politician.  Stop photographing people when they come to your house, tidy the place up, apologise to Tracy Day and tell her you need help with your life.  Trust her.  Let the council people come around and fix up the windows.  Be patient.  Stop asking them why they cut the power off.  Eventually they'll put it back on.  Don't wire anything up - especially don't wire up your door to electrocute people.  If people give you a bad time, instead of fighting them, take a personal moral high ground.  Know that avoiding conflict is always the best course of action and that you doing so makes you a better person than they are.  Finally good luck.  You are in a tough position and one I'm glad I'm not in.  All I can offer is my moral support and advice but I have faith in you.

To everybody else on the forum:  I think you should read those links that Tom posts and have a sense of compassion.  1 in 4 people suffer from mental illness and I think it is very cruel and horrible to attack them over it.  I ask that we all show respect for Tom.

Finally there are a couple of really good books I suggest you read Tom - both by the same author.

A Scanner Darkly by Philip K Dick and Valis - also by Philip K Dick.  A Scanner Darkly is also a movie staring Keanu Reaves.  Definitely worth watching although it may not have come out yet (comes out on November 30 in Australia but I've already seen it).

I just finished looking through his sites and I do  feel badly for him.  He definitely needs the help of a mental health professional.

However, some of the things on his sites are rather extreme.  Did anyone else notice the Nazi flag background on some of the pages?

A number of pages finish with pictures of Nazis and the words "Looks a bit like this doesn't it?" "Unfortunately it is happening now..." - So I would guess that the Nazi images you speak of are suggesting that the people out to get him are Nazis or like Nazis.

This page has the Nazi flag background.  I can understand why the actual Sarah Branson has tried to get court action against him.

Can you really convince an irrationally paranoid person that they are paranoid?  It seem that they would see any attempt at doing so as another part of the plot to harm them.

Are you sure this thread wouldn't have been better suited to a PM, beast?

Intervention by web-forum post. That's a new one on me.

Beast, I applaud your motives and compassion, and think you're right to get people on this forum to stop attacking Sara/Tom for the things he's saying. But expecting Tom to change his behavior based on a forum post is not exactly realistic - I have an aunt with paranoia and bipolar disorder, and my family has been trying to get her to take steps to help herself for decades, to no effect.

Does it seem to anybody else that if 1 in 4 people suffer from mental illness, maybe the definition is a little too broad?

I do not find it hard to believe that 25% of the population has some form of mental disorder be it small or large.

I am sure, however, that a large number of falsely diagnosed ADHD cases are involved.

I have it as well, but I can certainly recognize that it is often falsely diagnosed.

This was put about by the British government a couple of years ago.  Their latest is 1:10 which seem to show how the British work:  fiddle with statistics and claim the credit.

I've given this some more thought, and although in some respect this goes against my morals, I think there's a very strong argument for banning Tom.  I don't think it would benefit the forum at all but I think it would actually benefit Tom.  He's somebody who needs to take responsibility for his life and focus on reality, not the fiction of the Internet.  I don't think banning him would stop him from posting on the net, but I don't think it's at all good for him.  In fact him posting on this forum under the name he's given is clearly actually a crime, and since we now know it's crime, to tolerate it would also be illegal.  The fact that somebody can get sued for posting on the Internet is ludicrous but, from our positions of anonymity, we can't change that.  We can effect whether he goes to jail again for contempt of court or not.  (He went to jail for essentially failing to comply with a court order for him to stop posting as "Sarah Branson" on the net.  Our allowance of him on this forum is complicate with his re-offence.  We might not be able to help, but we should at least try.

Well, oops. I posted in the wrong topic.

My same thoughts as in the last post in the "In retrospect of Katrina" thread, in which you posted your original "sleuthing".

Could I not "impersonate" a member of your parliament?

Probably not.  The UK parliament has taken a lot of privileges to itself, but you can certainly use the same name as a Member of the UK Parliament.

You should all know by now, a name on the internet means absolutely nothing.

You over value Internet names.

I am implying, therefore, that there is no such thing as proof online (Well...not really. There are exceptions).

Basically it means what Beast has said is unprovable. Therefore, there is no reason to have this thread.

Internet names are not overvalued, though - as a member becomes more well known and respected (Although do you ever see respect here? I mean other forums.), the internet name is thus not overvalued, it has a use.

It feeds the ego.

I respect beast a hell of a lot more than some loser trying to impersonate some poor broad who's already taken him to court and won for the very same act.

However I do find it amusing that you use your (my assumption) own twisted views to try and discredit her. Funny stuff.

That's brilliant.

I think everybody should have a bracelet that says, "What would beast do?"

I read through the pages myself, I guess I'm not nearly as compassionate.  If Tom could accept responsibility for his actions I might be but he doesn't - anybody that uses illness as a crutch should be shot as they diminish the efforts of those who are actually trying and struggling.

You have to try Tom, stop being such a whinging, angry boy.

+Beast thank you for looking into that.

I did not equate the personal attacks, or the website that I saw as a mental disability, hence I also apologize to sarah or tom in the same manner.

I have had a head injury from years ago, and I have lost the ability to gleen conclusions from things until someone connects them, then I can see it as well.

I agree, that to treat anyone with a disability badly is pretty shitty. Been on the bad end once too many times.

Luckily I have not lost the intellect, just the automatic registering of things that I used to, and most people do take for granted in thier lives.

So Tom,

I take it from reading your website, and the fact that you updated that site a couple of weeks ago, and post regularly on this forum, that your electricity has been re-connected? No mention of that on the website?

I also get a sense (please correct me if I'm wrong) that you blame the council for the constant vandalism to your home? Would you not be better served to direct more blame towards the punk kids who commited the vandalism?

Also one other thing, what makes you think that employment is a service? As far as I can see, the only one that can deny you the "service" of employment (as a whole) is yourself.
