When you consider that the most popular book of recent years sold a total of around 10,000,000 copies over a few years while the US Superbowl is watched by over 100,000,000 in a single day, I think it seems very obvious that TV is more popular than reading.  Do you care to back up your statement at all?

The superbowl is not a measure of TV's popularity. It is a measure of the popularity of the superbowl. Also, note that you can sell as many books as you can print, but you can't pack more people than there are seats at the stadium, so people watching it are not all doing so because of their love for TV.
And the same book can be bought reread and borrowed or placed in a library. The number of units sold is far from acurate to determine the popularity of reading.

the common medium is Television, since it provides information to the senses far faster, accurate, and more efficient than through the reading, interpreting, and imaginative processes.

Most people prefer to receive their input through the virtual reality of television, hence why most households have at least one television set places where they are affordable.

how many people would you say have books to get all of their information and entertainment from?

So can you give some kind of a source that backs up your claim that reading books is more popular than watching TV?  Note that reading because you have to (or watching tv because you have to) is not part of what you're claiming.  I know that I reject any friend requests at myspace by people who say that they don't read books (unless they are close friends) and reject far more requests than I accept.  That's obviously not a scientific study, but when you see how much coverage newspapers and magazines give to TV, as opposed to books - it seems clear that people are more interested in TV than in reading books.  I await your evidence with great excitement.
