See answer in other thread.

You need a motive. So you create one.

He didn't create a motive, he created a possible motive to be debated. Anyway, it's certainly better than the current FAQ answer...

Thanx, Jie.
I agree with you there, I'm not going to say its the only possible motive.

Then he created a motive.

"The only true" motive.

They don't know how it makes them money, or gives them power either. All they will say is that it does.

I'm sure it is linked to the Australia Conspiracy, which is actually bigger and much more important than the Flat Earth Conspiracy.

Australia Conspiracy? (I live in Aus)

They just call it a conspiracy, nothing more nothing less.

Another potential argument is that if people know that the Earth is flat, there is a chance that the Other side of the disc will be explored. Obviously the government is hiding their TRUE SECRET on the other side of the Earth.

But doesn't the FAQ state that "You would enter an inertial reference frame, moving at a constant velocity in the direction the Earth was moving before you jumped. The Earth would continue accelerating upwards past you at a rate of 1g, so it would appear to you that you were falling into space." Wouldnt this mean that the people on the otherside would be required to be travelling at 9.8 m/s/s in order to stay with the earth. So unless you have some kind of special fuel, I doubt that they could sustain that sort of velocity for a long period of time.
eh, I am over it, believe in what you want.

Or they could just be attached to the earth.

Actualy, any good mountain climber could probably explore the underside. No need for rockets at all.

Except that it would take a very long time to get there and back, and there is no atmosphere in space.

I never said they wouldn't need extra equipment, and only the first trips need be difficult; things should get much easier as a network of cables is set up.  :)

I suppose it depends on what the terrain of the Underside is like, and what it is that is propelling the disc upwards.
