Because I think that if you take a lot of the Bible as metaphor, and not literal, it actually agrees a lot more with modern science. The Bible has "the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the Deep" and Science has the quantum void and the laws of physics. Science has the energetic explosion of the Big Bang, the Bible has "Let there be light!"

Plus, if the Earth and this dome are sitting on the water and on pillars, what are the pillars sitting on? And hoe large is this ocean that we exist in?

And lastly, the Bible also says, in *many* places in the Old Testament, that "the Sun rises and the Sun sets".

"The sun rises and the sun sets, and hurries back around to where it rises." - Ecclesiastes 1:5

Obviously modern science is wrong because the earth is definitely flat.

The Bible also says that there were unicorns, dragons, giants, zombies, and that people lived for 800 years. 

And your point is? They have found Giant skeletons all over the world so that is a scientific fact. Dragons and Unicorns aren't that far-fetched...

And the Bible also says that after the Flood man will not live longer than 120 years and yet science can't seem to break that 120 year barrier 4500 years later... why is that? Perhaps the Word of God is true.
