Hello all! New to the forum
« on: March 17, 2015, 02:20:49 PM »
Hey all! I'm Gustav H (my real name, nothing to do with the character from that stupid Wes Anderson movie. Ergh it's annoying.) I'm an Irish-raised German currently living in California. I have no convictions, but I've always thought there's something f***ed up with mainstream society, and mainstream science and media have lied to us so many times in the past. I've frequented a few forums of this kind in the past, and this one seems to be active without having too many of the lunatics you get some other places always harping on about the 'Illuminati', Freemasons, North Korea, crazy stuff like that. That said, I'm not too sure about this whole 'flat Earth' bit. I'm convinced NASA faked the Moon landings (look at the evidence), but that they faked all satellites seems improbable. Look at this video from the space station: I find it hard to believe they faked that, especially since this wouldn't just be NASA, it would also have to be ESA, Japan, China, Russia, India, South Africa, Brazil etc. who faked them.

Despite these problems, though, it's a theory that intrigues me. It would explain a lot. Everyone here seems very like-minded to me, and I hope I'll fit in!

Cheers! (Or, as a tribute to my Irish childhood, and since it's Saint Patrick's day, sláinte!)

Hay glad to see you are new to the forum. I am new too, glad to always have new faces around. We have a very interesting discussion going under the "do mountains exist tab in the debate section. I don't know about those guys who say mountains don't exist, they seem like they might be trying to trick us, my wife says maybe the are NASa, I dont know, she is right sometimes. Any way, the mountain people also have a website   libertyjfreedom.wix.com/theearthisflat   but come over and check out the debate but be careful I fear these guys may be up to no good.  ;)

Wow... and I said there weren't too many crazies on this forum. "Obama created mountains" is just the type of crazy crap I try to avoid. Only a matter of time until they bring up the Illuminati or Ancient Space Aliens.

Don't worry Mikeman, I'm still very much not convinced by the theory. There are some nuggets of truth in it, though. I've never trusted NASA, or ESA for that matter.

That said, I have flown in planes many times and you can see the curvature of the Earth so clearly from up there, I don't see how anyone can dispute it.

Commercial flights do not go high enough to see this supposed "curvature". Please sell your lies somewhere else.

Hello Jerry here. The Bosnian fellow, I persume that is who you were talking about is not my "alt" and he also seems to think I am out to get you all, says I am a nasa which I am not. Just trying to get my ideas out there. Mr,. Holst of Gusatv whatever your name is, I am not crazy, some people are misguided. Stop the lies. Also, when you look out of an air plane the earth looks round because your vision extends in arc. You dont see in right angles so thats why it looks round common misconsemption

Why do you assume that he is talking about commercial flights? For someone who claims to be open minded you do jump to the conclusion that people are paid shills rather quickly.

It's not just commercial flights. I was simply being generous. Anyone who claims to have "seen curvature" from a plane is a liar. Period. You can't see curvature from a safe flying altitude.

Vauxhall, I am not "lying". Maybe I just imagined the curvature, but it seemed pretty clear. If there was no curvature, wouldn't there be no horizon? I don't know a whole lot about this, and I've got an open mind so don't jump at me like that, but the horizon was very defined.

FlatEarthMaverick, I can't tell if you're joking or a harmless nutter.

A rather strange welcome I've gotten to the forum...

Yeah, the red line is strait.  It intercepts with the horizon at the edges of the view, but the horizon is above the strait line in the middle.  This means that the horizon is curved and that the Earth is round.

How many alts do you need?!

All of them.
I have 13 [academic qualifications] actually. I'll leave it up to you to guess which, or simply call me a  liar. Either is fine.
