It doesn't make sense at all for Google earth to be in on the conspiracy. I've found my house with it before. They couldn't just find the locations of everybody's houses and put them where they'd be on a round earth.

Google is not in on the conspiracy.  Google does not own any satellites.  They get their mapped earth  and images from another source, which owns the satellites (the US government).

Sorry, I didn't see that. However, that still doesn't mean that everyone working for Google needs to be in on the conspiracy, just the people actually in charge of the satellites.

They do, and Google owns them. They were the ones who helped Google create Google Earth. The US Government had nothing to do with it.

Perhaps you should read some of the posts on the site.
Here is a write up of the aquisition.  Keyhole is a software company, not a satellite company.

Because that's the way things are. When a new gouvernment comes in, people are replaced even though they might have been doing their job correctly. When a new owner comes around, he puts some of his own people in place of the old staff.

Before this thread slides off into obscurity...

Google does not own any satellites.  Keyhole does not own any satellites.

Keyhole is a company that has the largest database of 'satellite' and arial photography, which is from other sources (as referenced by Google themselves in my previous post).  They produce a software package that allows the user to look up any place on the earth and get an image of it.  That is why Google aquired them, to use this software in their mapping and direction services.
