Why would the Arctic ice sheets be dependant on the shape of the Earth?

This is a typical time-wasting, non-responsive answer by jroa.  You answered a question that was not asked. The question was "In flat earth theory, how is the process of ice loss represented?".  Please answer that question.

Ice can't melt if the Earth is flat?  I really don't understand your point.

I agree with you, Jroa lol. You asked for a clarification on what the question was and they just attacked.

RE'ers (I am fellow RE'er), please help Jroa and elaborate the question for Jroa

Flat Earth Logic:
It looks flat so it is flat.
Large corporations/agencies give us photos so they must be lying for profit gain

There is no poof that there isn't a ice wall.  Any photos are clearly fakes
Its cold there so surely an ice wall is there

jroa, you are correct in saying that the continent would still exist if all of the ice melted.

I don't think quotes count as evidence. On a round earth, Antarctica is still extremely large, and at ground level, it would be near-impossible to determine the shape.

The problem with the process of ice loss is that on a flat earth, the edge of the continent is nearly 8 times larger. (78k miles as opposed to 11k was it?). So in terms of freshwater flux from ice melt, the measured rates (Which correlate with satellite data looking down on a round earth) wouldn't add up on a flat earth.

On a tangent, the antarctic circumpolar current would also need to be approximately 8 times faster in order to transport tracers, ARGO floats etc to the same extent as measured.

In summary, these would be gaps in the science if the flat earth theory was correct. They can be explained easily by a round earth, but is there an equivalent explanation for a FE?

In 1911, long before NASA conspiracies, long before Photoshopped fakery, there was Roald Amundsen. He climbed your "ice wall", proceeded to the South Pole and took pictures. There was no "edge of the earth". US Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd flew over the South Pole in 1928. There was no "edge of the earth". How do I know the earth is round? I've been on an airplane at 30,000 feet and looked out the window. The curvature of the planet can bee seen quite easily. That's more than enough proof for me. Also, it doesn't seem to matter where you are on the earth, including Antarctica, that this curvature is visible. If the earth were flat and you went up to 30,000 feet or more, there would be no horizon. Yet, no matter how far above sea level that you travel, there is always a visible horizon. Some average citizens have attached cameras to ballons and let them go, some reaching 100,000 feet. Guess what? They clearly show the curvature of the earth and a horizon. Absolute, positive, undeniable proof that the earth is a sphere.

Even pilots will tell you that no curvature can be seen from the altitude that they fly.  Perhaps you simply imagined seeing it?

Not the pilots I fly with in the CAF. We all see the curve of the earth. Maybe you're imagining that the earth is flat. That's the only place it could be flat, really, is in an overactive imagination.

It is land with ice on it.
So the ice wall is not a wall and should never be referred to as such?

It is a content covered with ice.  Yes, it can look like a wall of ice, but that does not mean it is a wall of ice.  What are you having trouble comprehending?  Is English your second language?

The explorers who have ventured furthest south have never mentioned seeing an ice wall.

Really, they never did?  Do I need to dig up some quotes for you, or are you not wanting to look stupid?

Just "dig up some quotes."  ???Please  :D

So, I guess no one has ever claimed to have seen "a 150 wall of ice" then.  You will be embarrassed when I proved you are wrong, will you not?

As I said, the explorers who have ventured furthest south have never mentioned seeing an ice wall. I stand by that statement. Bring on the quotes.

I guess jroa is playing his old "word games" games. LOL.

Someone has claimed to have seen "A  150 wall of ice." Have they measured its height and length ?

But has anyone claimed to have seen "THE ice wall" ? They would have had to have seen and measured its height as 150 feet and its length as 78,000 miles.

Please supply with those quotes you mentioned to prove this.

None of us are worried about looking stupid.

If you provide us with some quotes, we will be able to look into them. If they are from good sources, it will aid you in your argument for a flat earth.

The reason people are saying this is because you've replied several times with a lack of quotes, despite saying that you will dig some up.

Why bother replying if you're not going to answer the question? Youc could reply in a month's time with some really good research, and we would be fine about that!

I will.  It is hard enough for me to type from my phone, much less copy/paste information, make quotes, or even do any research.  I am in the process of moving.  And will hopefully have my desktop set up by the end of this weekend.  In the mean time, please excuse grammatical errors, typos, and even an occasional lack of replying.

You believe in gravity right?  You must if you believe that the Earth orbits the Sun and the Moon orbits the Earth, so why do we fall towards the surface if the Earth is a torus?  Also, other planets are round so why not Earth?

I will admit....Maybe this is another one of "My Big IMHO's", but some of might be a bit curious about those "quotes."

You don't have to "dig up" to  give the exact quotes or even the sources. Just  some idea of what they are and a general  idea of the gist of the quotes and what that had do so with the subject at hand.

Other planets have toroidal components. And the centre of mass of a torus is the same as it would be for a sphere.

See...what I don't understand is how someone came up with a Toroidal earth theory...wouldn't we have found a massive gap in the earth by now? Sure, the physics works and everything, but through simple observation from space, or even air traffic, that should be ruled out. Unless the Toroidal earth is like an infinite loop in which we cannot leave the surface enough to observe the missing portion?

Firstly they are loose rings of debris an secondly the actual planets themselves are still spheres.
