Just a simple pole to see whether people here are more likely to be religious if they are FE.

Edit: The poll didn't work the way I wanted it to, I had it all spaced so that the words matched up, but posting it removed my formating.

As far as I know, no. About half of the FE's on the site are atheists.

You're site admin here and you didn't vote that you think that the world is flat?

He doesn't have to agree with the site in order to moderate it.

There was already a poll done on who was and who wasn't RE or FE. Half the moderators aren't. They're there to keep the site under control from rampaging idiots about the forum. They're not there to defend the beliefs.

It is a statistical fact that atheists have higher IQs than religious people and also FEers are very smart...  Statistically I would therefore expect most FEers to be atheists.

That's not a valid argument, I'll refute it by using a parallel argument.
It is a statistical fact that on average humans are bigger than birds, sharks are also bigger then birds therefore I would expect them to be humans.
Can you see the fallacy?

The only fallacy here is trying to apply terms like "valid" to statistical arguments.  If he had said, "... therefore all FEers are atheists," then it would be invalid.  But he didn't say that, and so to determine the cogency of his argument you must examine the conditional probability of the event that a person is an atheist, given that he is an FEer.

Technically so are you. But that changes depending on your argument, so I guess you're a liar, too.

How do you define a "REer" - I have always argued on this forum that the Earth is flat.  I have never attempted to argue that it is any shape other than flat.  How does that make me a "REer"

You stated that you don't believe that the world is flat. Therefore you argue for something that you don't believe in.

I believe you because you are stating a belief.  And your belief will not affect me unless you attempt to force it upon me.

I am almost certain that Dionysios is the only religious Flat Earther here, but he rarely posts in General anymore.

There is a strong negative corelation between religious faith and contemporary Flat Earthism (though of course many Flat Earth groups in history have been highly religious - the population of Zion, Illinois, certain Jainist sects, etc.).

What's that supposed to mean?

Your statment WAS invalid because you presented your opinion as a fact, and then made a conclusion based on it. A lot of people hold the values that was taught by their parents, I.Q. has no impact on this.
