I have been looking at the stars for most of the night, every time I go outside for a smoke.  I have never once noticed them moving in circles.  Admittedly, I can't see a lot of stars tonight, but the ones I see do not appear to be moving in circles.  Perhaps you are trying to claim that the stars seen in an airplane can clearly be seen moving in circles?  Or, maybe you roundies are just flat out lying again?  I have not made up my mind yet.

Do you have an Android phone or an Iphone?

Download one of these apps, plug your phone in, put it on record on a clear night facing the sky, and leave it for 4 hours. Then see the motion for yourself.

That is not the claim.  The claim that I was responding to was that you could fly over Antarctica and see the stars rotating.  Please don't just start derailing when you or your roundies get proven wrong.

No, that's not what he meant. If you look at the night sky, and use the timelapse apps I gave you, you will observe that stars appear to rotate around a point in the sky. That point will either be towards the north if you're in the northern hemisphere, or it will be towards the south if you're in the southern hemisphere, and it represents the point right above the north/south pole.

Try it for yourself! I gave you the tools.

Perhaps you should actually read the posts that people make and not just derail threads when you get pushed in a corner.

Also, if money is an issue, it is simple to solve. Just sell $1,000 tickets on the Airbus that will fly over the South Pole. If you sell more than 200 tickets you will actually make a large profit should the Flat Earth model be incorrect, but if it is correct you will change every understanding of our world. I personally have become quite convinced of the indirect data in support of the Flat World hypothesis, but only a flight over the "SouthPole"/Outer Wall of our world will prove definite evidence one way or the other. Once we hit 200 people each willing to pay $1,000 each, then we will be ready to fly. So, anyone interested in going? Email me at [email protected]
Best,
Jim

While you are there you should look up in the night sky and notice how the stars move in a way that's impossible on a flat Earth.

One individual is suggesting flying over the pole, another individual is suggesting that, while doing this, one should observe the stars moving, and then you barge in claiming that the conversation is about Android apps.  Please, just stop derailing.

lol, you are so childish.  You think the stars can be seen rotating like a pinwheel while flying hundreds of miles per hour and viewing through a window with a 2 degree view.  Maybe, they will see unicorns and Thor and Vauxhall's fairies while they are up there, lol.  You are the most childish roundy I can ever remember meeting.

Apart from derailing the thread and posting a personal insult (both forum breaches) these comments simply indicate that you have little idea of what you are talking about.  You seem not to understand that the apparent "movement" of the stars when viewed by the unaided human eye is so insignificant that it cannot be perceived without the appropriate astronomical equipment.  It makes not one whit of difference whether the stars are being viewed from a static position on the ground, or from the window of a moving airplane.  Which, incidentally, offers nearly a 180-degree view.

The fact that you seem to think the star patterns will instantly resemble a "pinwheel" firecracker also confirms your lack of astronomical knowledge.  And yes; if you DO repeatedly check the positions of any of the major constellations whilst you are outside promoting an early death, you WILL see that the stars have rotated in the sky.  I can guarantee it.
There's something in this forum that makes you can't speak well...

This thread got unpinned for some reason. How do they expect to raise money for the proposed expedition if the appeal for funds slips into the oblivion of page 3 and beyond?

Was this an error, or have "plans" for an expedition been scrapped? Maybe someone realized that such a project would doom their own cherished idea, and, rather than announce it's being abandoned, the hope was for the idea to simply slip away. Hoping that bad ideas and dead-end arguments just get forgotten seems pretty common around here.

Here are some search terms to locate this post and, thus, the tread it's in, if anyone feels a need to refer back to it:

expeditionfundraiserthread
expeditionfundraiser
fundraiserthread

You should be able to search for any of those joined-together words and avoid too many false hits.

[Edit] Attempted partial-word searches and failed. Added the last two terms.
