"BLACK HOLES DON'T EXIST" - it's a bit more subtle than that.

And most physicists don't agree with him.  And what has this got to do with flat earth?

It seems to me that the headline should read "Black Hole Event Horizons Don't Exist" because that seems to be what Hawking is really saying.  This looks like just another case of the press not knowing what they're talking about.

This isn't new. It's called Hawking radiation.

The event horizon does still exist and is the exact distance from the singularity that has an escape velocity of 299792458m/s.

I didn't see any part of the video where Hawking "claimed" black holes don't exist.  He was simply elaborating on the proposed mechanics of their function.  Or is this simply another flat earth beat-up of conventional science in general, in an attempt to demean the science that proves the earth is spherical?
 

I agree with ausGeoff, he certainly didn't say they don't exist, he is talking about what happens to the matter that is sucked into them..

My best guess is that black holes are like positive matter drains that are adding more Anti-Positive matter to the Universe and thus growing the Universe. So yes Hawking is right in that the Matter is not destroyed nor lost forever but the matter is definitely changed forever and locked away until the big bang happens....
