Sean,
I think what we should remember is that almost all of us can say we have had periods of inactivity and of activity.
To be fair, Daniel has been active in the Flat Earth community releasing historical documents, blogs, and performing fairly high profile interviews in what I would consider a fairly consistent manner; this is of course ignoring footing the bill and dealing with complaints for almost a decade.
I think its easy to forget how much we've all put into this society and even this site and its forum; it really is a part of who many of us are. Daniel rocks and he deserves our gratitude. Its easy to criticize and demonize, but its much more additive to be appreciative and work together.
In short, we should all be giving Daniel a "Thank you!" So, Thank you Daniel!
I will not thank Daniel. Daniel is the worst president this society could have EVER had. Know why? Because he doesn't interact with people.
This society, like any society, functions not on interviews or podcasts or library books, but on social interaction. Two way communication is the whole point of running a society and this forum is supposed to do that. But when I look at Daniel's posting habits, I found what I always knew:
He doesn't post.
Since 2005 he's made a grand total of 1116 posts. A pathetic amount for someone who is president of the Flat Earth Society. Especially when Tom Bishop, who does almost exclusive FES posts, has 16,445 since 2007!
But quality before quantity right?
So I filtered the search to include only posts made in the "upper forums" (General, q&a, Debate).
That didn't work as the search gave me only 1 post in each thread. So I went to his stats.

He's made more CN posts than he has in FE general or the Debate forum! Since 2005!
This is not a leader. This is a troll.
