Don't Say No To McDonald's
« on: November 08, 2013, 02:29:33 PM »
http://shine.yahoo.com/parenting/how-saying-no-to-mcdonald-s-might-lead-to-dad-losing-custody-165611460.html

A dad is possibly losing custody of his son after telling him he couldn't eat dinner at McDonald's. A psychiatrist deemed the father "wholly incapable of taking care of his son".

Finally, saying "no" to McDonald's becomes one step closer to being illegal in America.

Uh huh.  There's probably a lot more to the case than this guy is letting on.

No one involved in the current case — the Schorrs, Schiller or Bari’s attorney Louis Newman — returned calls seeking comment from Yahoo Shine.

I think this speaks louder than anything else in the article.

Yeah, I'd agree with this one. Apparently he gave the choice of eating somewhere else or not at all. How often does the kid go without meals as a punishment?

I'd lkike to see the prosecutor's argument before accepting this as black-and-white.

I disagree.  This sounds like classic custody battle crap.  The boy is being soiled by the mom, who wants full custody, and the kid knows it.  So he dug his heels in one day, the father did the same, and a reasonable punishment was blown into "he let's his child starve!"

This kind of crap happens a lot.  You just don't usually hear about it.

I see. How was your childhood?

I got bullied at school and only kept from suicide or mass shooter by my loving parents.
Also, they once fed me the dinner I refused to eat for 2 days.  Breakfast, lunch, dinner.  I never refused to eat my dinner again.

I don't think not providing the food the kid wants is the same as not providing the child food.
If I make a stir fry for dinner, and the kid wants chocolate cake instead, guess what the kid gets to eat. I fully support LordDave's parents in feeding him the same thing for two days straight until he ate it.
I don't know what you're implying, but you're probably wrong.

Somewhat relevant:

Yep, I think you missed the point a bit too.  The fact it is there is part of McDonald's misleading people.  A bunch of numbers with no explanation whatsoever and little relevance to a lot of people.  This info is on lots of other products and I rarely see or know of anyone who really checks it all out.
The info can say all it want really imo.  People who eat it, do so most of the time because they want a big heart greasy meal that is convenient.  The option to eat one of their carrots or apples is rarely exercised I would bet.  Most people who have the slightest clue about healthy eating know it is far more healthier, not too mention quicker, cheaper and tastier to make their own burgers, pizzas, fried chicken, fries, etc of their own.

Baaaaw  Baaaaaaw  BAAAAWWWW

I'm too ignorant and lazy to bother doing anything to take control of what I do in my life.  Its easier to blame others than to take any responsibility for my actions.  In this dark age of technology what possible resources do I even have to find out what is in the food I eat?  And I'm sure there is no way I could look on the wall at the fast food place to find the nutritional information for each and every menu item, nor could I ask anyone behind the counter.  Why not just continue the status quo and then blame others for taking advantage of me when I chose to do nothing to control what I put into my body?  Woe is me!

You could make the same argument about all those confusing numbers on paychecks, bill and credit cards.  How is one to know what you can and can't afford these days?  Its so confusing.  I guess I'll just keep spending blindly and assume nothing bad will happen.

It looks like the wife is using everything she can to gain full custody. I wish these parents would realise how much damage these court squabbles can do to their kid.
