DIY proof of a round earth
« on: November 05, 2013, 07:01:55 PM »
Hello. I'm new to this site, and until now, hadn't realized that people with access to modern education still believed in a flat earth. This Article gives detailed instructions on how to build and launch a balloon and camera capable of reaching the edge of space. I recommend that anyone who still doubts that the earth is round try it. You will be able to see clearly from the footage that you took that the earth does, in fact, have a curvature. Of course, if you are willing to ignore all the other proof, this is unlikely to change your mind, but I like to think that most people are capable of analyzing evidence, so it's worth a shot.

Yes. You overestimate the results of such a test! Many people here have seen such tests and even if they were to carry them out themselves, they deem the results too vague to reach a conclusion.

Just how curved is the horizon?  Is the curve simply the lit portion of the earth under the sun?  Why does a camera often show the curve inverted when it is in the upper-half of the view field?

Results: inconclusive.

Is it cool to see the blackness of space? Yes.  That's the only conclusion we can settle on.

Some things you might want to suggest or see if you can find someone to do with you:

Send up two (or more) balloons at a time.

How could this benefit?  We could see if the land mass at the edge is unseen because it is curving out of our view or if it is in the darkness.

Welcome Captain!

Modern education is part of the problem with understanding Earth shape dynamics.  Flat Earth studies are almost completely left out of the process.

This is just one example that should be studied before deciding on Earth shape.

Likewise, kids should have to learn how to use the earliest types of computers before using today's technology.  They should also learn how to use an abacus and a slide-rule before being allowed to use a calculator.

CaptainReason, unless you can send it high enough to see the whole Earth, the best your experiment might do is show a little curvature--maybe.  Welcome, and keep thinking of a way to prove conclusively the shape of the earth.

There you went disproving the RET on your own, leaving me without ammo!  >o<

If you can't see the whole of anything, how come you can 'see' the "Non-Flat Earth" from your magic 'space' thingy?

You shouldn't be able to see enough of it to see it's "round", so how come your magical cameras do that then? Hmmmm.................??  :P ;D

If visibility is such a bitch, then your 'round earth space' pictures are clearly denounced as forgeries of the CGI varietey.  :)

In which case, stop it. Stop it. Stop it with those obvious fakes which any tenth grader geeko can fake using photoshop from his mom's sex dungeon basement.

When you look at an orange do you see the whole thing? No, you have to turn it around to see the whole thing.

The ISS is only far enough away to see the horizon 1000 miles away.

Yes a scripture from 1881 is more believable than modern time technology... You're so full of shit its hilarious. At least I can smell bullshit when it's wafted in my face.
All I can say to this, is, you must have  selective smell sensors in your nose that shut down when official bull crap wafts under it, time and time and time, again.

Hah, Well said.  ;D

You have to understand these leeches are protecting their source of income. Which is public theft. They'd get lynched if people knew what we know, and false governments would drop like flies from the fortune 500.

Their faked pictures with giant wobbly satellites that can't even fly straight on the flat earth are downright embarassing. These lowlifes have no shame, or dignity.  :-\
Notice the giant satellite made especially large to convince the subconscious not to question it's fat ass authority. Because big objects are harder to dispute by the idiot masses!  :P Who might just be dumb enough not to recognize a satellite unless it's several inches wide in width / height.  :)
Also, I'm no expert but the map they just showed looks kinda flat to me .. are they trying to make it easy for us? :(

@someRELoser: You do can see the orange fully. Put mirror behind it and watch it in full by staring at both it, and the mirror that reflects it's other side.

Maybe stop and think, before you spam the forum with your photoshopped pornography. Next time, use someone else's brain, yours is defective.

So you can focus on both an orange and its reflection in a mirror at the same time? And you believe your own eyes? haha silly FET, why not go dig for some lizards?

See, i would take the simple option of peeling it and then i could see it all, and i would have an nice juicy orange to eat.
