Lot of talk reddit about it being a hoax but I'm still curious.

If NASA wanted to tell us about an important announcement that's coming up, I'm pretty sure that they would, you know, actually tell us.  They wouldn't just put up a website and assume that we'd find it ourselves.

No timescale then. Noted.
You are a habitual low-content poster.

Hopefully your remark will find its way to angry rantings. In the mean time ...

where is your God now, mathsman?

I don't have a god, sweetcheeks.

So with NASA out of the picture for now at least I assume Aevan and his fellow Zetetics will take this golden opportunity and finally break the stranglehold of the conspiracy. I would expect a broad offensive from FES to enlighten the ignorant, brainwashed RE masses and bring forth a new age of enlightenment to the world. Surely now it is only a matter of time until we will see the RE heretics and the conspiracy masters exposed for all to see. And future generations will know it all started with one website going down.

Of course, if hypothetically all that happens is much sniping and gloating about the 'demise' of NASA, but then the site goes back up and the world continues to go on as normal, then that would have been a bit of a silly wasted opportunity wouldn't it?

Just because they "shut down" their website, doesn't mean they can't launch another satellite.  Hahaha  Looks like they got plenty of money to spend.

How does NASA not being funded allow us to do any of this any better than we could before?

For someone that claims to be a "mathsman", you sure don't like for your conclusions to follow from the premises.

Haha ævan, so naïve!  I love when skeptics accuse others of being spoon fed but yet fall for the government being shut down.

The ISS is still functioning. Mars Curiosity is still functioning.

You can see the ISS in the sky for yourself, just like always.
