Your tone has changed Sceptimatic. Thank you for clarifying your belief structure. It is not unusual to reject evidence that conflicts with your own stance in this society. I would advise, however, that you qualify your rejection with something beyond 'because its stupid to believe' (even if you honestly believe that it is) if only to allow an insight into your position.

I am sure you wish to share your stance and have reasonable dicussion about others? Is that not why you are here? Civilised discussion requires respectfully going through the motions of establishing your case. Many will have gone through a similar eximination of evidence as you have, and will have conluded differently.

You're only as good as your last simile.

.  Now look where we are.  99% of the population believes the Earth is round.
[/quote]

Not sure it's 99%   , there are millions of children (and adults) around the world, who live in extreme poverty, who are not indoctrinated on a round earth belief through the TV or any type of " education system "
Maybe you could ask them , I bet they think it's flat

I try to respect other peoples views and I can understand certain points they make. I only usually laugh at those that try and use ridicule against me to get their point across.

That's completely wrong. I don't get my statements across by ridiculing you, but rather by the time I'm ridiculing you, it's because I've already presented my arguments with evidence, and you so blatantly disregard them without a second glance because "it's indoctrination". I ridicule you simply because you are ridiculous.
Scepti, this idiocy needs to stop and it needs to stop right now. You are making a mockery of this fine forum with your poor trolling. You are a complete disgrace.

What evidence have to presented that proves your point?
Which point? There are many points.

You said you had presented your arguments with evidence. So what evidence have you presented that proves your point on this thread?

I think he still wants to know which point. You didn't elaborate. Do you want evidence for the point about you being ridiculous? That's easy.

You could try going back through the thread and read his evidence again.

The points made against you and the evidence provided to support those points hardly pertains to just this thread. All this thread has really been about is showing the ISS videos that Chris Hadfield uploads. That in itself is some very strong evidence, but you've dismissed it as being some Hollywood special effects, which is fair enough. There are many other points that can't be so easily disputed though, and I'm not going to get into them here, you've already heard of them before - even though you shrug them off

His 5 months are up. He's returning tomorrow.

Pretty sweet music video that looks like it's been effortlessly made but yet blows away the special effects of other space movies.

What was the detonation at the end of this video on the splash down?
Close, but quite.  Soyuz capsules are designed to land on the ground, not the ocean.  That "detonation" was simply the capsule kicking up some dust as it hit the ground.

Regardless of the shape of the Earth; that was a cracking video. Thank you for sharing.

With Hadfield returning to Earth today I'll miss his fantastic paintings err I mean photos of the Earth.

Now, supposing that this one here was a real photo, in FET what are we looking at here?

It appear we see the Earth's curvature, which can't be the edge of the "spotlight" obviously. Nor can it be the edge of the Earth's disc, or at least not as it's generally understood, since the Sun shown here is beyond the edge, shining through the atmosphere, and as we all know in FET the Sun is always somewhere above the Earth's disc. So it's pretty confusing from the FET standpoint.

Can anyone point me to or produce a sketch that shows how this would work, because I can't figure it out.

So a pitch dark earth. no lights whatsoever then?

Yes, and no stars either. You know perfectly well why, it has been explained to you many, many times.

This video.  ::)

Just to be clear, that detonation at the end are the Soyuz capsule jets fired just before splashdown to reduce the force of impact on the ground.
