Where is everyone?
« on: March 24, 2013, 01:43:00 AM »
I thought it would be interesting to find where in the world people are and what they do.

I'm in the UK and a lawyer.

Anyone else?

Moved to an appropriate forum.

I am in the south eastern US and not a lawyer, scumbag.

Jroa, apologies for not posting on the correct board.  I hardly ever go to the Lounge and forgot it would have been more appropriate to post the question here.

Do I have any takers?

Good to hear.  What do you do, day to day?

This thread is an obvious and despicable attempt by the Conspiracy to gather information about the FES's members so that they may be silenced. I, for one, will not be participating.
I'm going to side with the white supremacists.

Well, scumbag, I do do not bleed people for a living.

I supervise a maintenance crew in an industrial plant.  We make shit!

My name is something, and I live for the magical experience that is cinema. I have revealed my location here previously and it is currently available in various threads.

I don't bleed people for a living either.  In fact, I work pretty hard to make sure that I don't bleed people and because of that I have not gone as far as I could have and am not making the money I could be.  That's the price of having principles.

When I was younger I also did free representation work, acting for people who could not afford to pay for a lawyer out of their own pocket.

I'm not telling you this from a desperation to be liked, but it would be nice if people realised that not all lawyers are blood suckers.

I'm glad to hear that you make things - it must be great to have a tangible result from what you do.

I wouldn't if I were you.  You might get taken away by a silent black helicopter.  That's what we use, you know.

I thought about getting into Law when I was younger, but then I realized I do not like fucking people over, so I went into engineering instead.

The thing I enjoy about law is the constant debate - there's very rarely a right or wrong answer, but there is usually one that makes sense in the circumstances.

I think that's why I am attracted to the sciences now; it's something different.  A good friend of mine went into engineering is now taking a course on the ancient Greeks, because the arts are, to him, something different.

Yeah?  Sounds interesting.  Not really, in fact.

Lawyers suck.  It is a universally known fact.  Get over it, swine, and do something productive in life, scumbag.

Both. I really can't give a preference between those two options; a good film is a good film. However, more of my absolute favorites might tend to be a little newer.

I thought some of the pro bono work that I did, acting for a charity that gives training and a fresh start to people who need it, was quite productive.

It's nice to meet someone who's not dogmatic about things.  Have you seen "It's a Wonderful Life"?  I still think that's one of the greats.  On the other hand, Starship Troopers was magnificent.

Your pro-boner work does not impress me.  Lawyers always have been, and will be, the scum of the Earth.  Prove me wrong.

Mainly for my own entertainment.  Being a source of amusement does not make you important. It just means that, for a short period of time, you displace the videos of cats playing the piano on Youtube.

It's a shame really.  I thought that by starting a thread that had nothing to do with arguments about a flat earth I could have a civil conversation with some interesting people. In your case that turns out not to be true.

I would still be happy to chat once you get over yourself.

It's a Wonderful Life is a great one. I do not like Starship Troopers though.
The Master by Paul Thomas Anderson has become one of my absolute favorites of all time, and it was just released in 2012.

What do you mean by me getting over myself?  I am not the delusioned one here.

In fact, I do not log onto the "Round Earth Society" in order to tell them that they are wrong.  What is going on in your head?

Thanks - I didn't know about that one; it does look good.  I'll see if I can get it.

Have you seen The Devil's Double?  That's well written and well acted; if you haven't seen it it's worth a watch.

By "getting over yourself" I meant your desire to repeatedly refer to me as a scumbag without knowing anything about me.  And continuing to do so when I tried to provide you with context.

In terms of your not logging in to the "Round Earth Society"; I entirely agree with you.  That's why I tried to make this thread devoid of assertions about flat earth.  I appreciate there's a debate to be had there but it seemed to me that there might be some good conversations to be had on other subjects.  I don't agree with FET, but that's not the purpose of this thread.  The purpose of this thread is to get to know people, instead of picking up on one thing they believe and hammering them for it.

Fact: You are a lawyer

Fact: All lawyers are scum bags.

Therefore, I do not see why you would disagreee that you are a scumbag.   ???

Prove to me that all lawyers are scumbags.

I know a couple of engineers that are scumbags too.  Does that make you a scumbag?

I do not make the rules.  I just enforce them.

If you do not like the fact that that lawyers are scumbags, then take it up with the man in charge here.
