The motto - IN VERITATE VICTORIA
« on: January 03, 2013, 09:45:41 PM »
Does everyone agree with that statement?

IN VERITATE VICTORIA = In truth is victory.

Round Earth vs. Flat Earth: who is winning in 2013?

Round Earth.

'Victory' is not a gerund.

I hope this flat earth thing becomes more popular, I think the first step in finding solutions to problems like this is creating awareness.

Round earth hands down.

If FE wants to get any where they 1 st need to get a coherent model together. And the
. Actualy start doing experiments for real and publishing results through the proper scientific channels.
Instead of quoting dead people who performed thier dubious at best experiments over a hundred years ago.
As far as this society goes your all a bit lazy or just don't realy believe.
Go out and get research grants, do experiments publish your results.
Make a map that works. Infiltrate NASA. Do something. Rather than just moan in the Internet.

how are you part of the scientific community? any evidence to back that up? as a scientist you must appreciate the need of evidence to back up a claim.

It is very Zetetic.

'Victory' is not a gerund.

You're exactly right, Lord Wilmore!  I shouldn't have said winning.  Because to most people on this planet this was settled long ago.  And the shape of the Earth is history.  Truth won; move on.

I'm part of the scientific community and I know the earth is flat.
Being a part of the scientific community is about evidence. The mere fact that you are saying that you "know" the Earth is flat without a single piece of peer reviewed evidence, and knowing full well that there are tons of scientific evidence to the contrary, shows that you are part of no scientific community.

Exactly. There is more evidence for FET than for RET. Therefore, I am forced to conclude that FET is the more likely theory.

There is more evidence for FET than for RET.

I suppose that depends on your definition of the word "evidence".

I agree that RET is a more sophisticated theory with seemingly satisfactory explanations for most phenomena. However, this has less to due with reality and more to do with popularity. It's little more than an incorrect assumption made by scientists who build their theories around it.

And that's the problem for FET.  Incorrect assumption or not, the RET explanations for most phenomena are more satisfactory than the FET explanations for the same phenomena.  Until FET can provide better explanations for these phenomena, FE'ers will have a very difficult uphill fight on its hands.

Now, just get some peer review of that evidence. Then I will be in total agreement that you are a scientist, and that you belong in the scientific community, whether you have finished your school or not.

I looked for a peer reviewed paper showing that the Earth is round. I couldn't find it.

So did i, and couldn't find it. In addition, I found not a single peer reviewed who deny that the earth is flat.

This isn't the peer reviewed paper but the pictures are prettier, slide 4 is your 'money shot' as it were.

Also FET isn't really a theory it's a conspiracy. There are pictures of the Earth from space on t-shirts, disbelieving this is a straight choice not a result of any kind of empirical measurement.

The Conspiracy is not the point of FET, nor is it universally recognized. In fact, it is not a facet of FET at all, hence the fact that we only discuss it in FEG.
