the buy a keyboard Mizuki fund
« on: December 17, 2012, 08:34:00 PM »
im willing to pledge a fair portion of the costs for a new keyboard or the whole postage (whatever is greater) to buy Mizuki a new keyboard.
they do not cost much and its for the good of the FES. anyone else in? i can buy off ebay and send direct too.
just need;

Mizuki's permission to give me their address for postage

other sponsors.

this is a legit request and i will provide proof of purchase as well. lets do something nice for somebody :)

or if its something like this;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Slim-USB-Wired-Multimedia-Spillproof-Keyboard-Office-Home-Black-/230891323665?pt=UK_Computing_ComputerComponents_KeyboardsMice&hash=item35c2320111

just give me your postage Mizuki and ill buy you it for christmas. its woman spillage friendly too so it wont break so easily! but if people want to chip in then a better quality one can be bought.

if you want to do this then message me a pm for my paypal to add funds. im not sure if this is against forum rules or not but it is most definitely not a scam! and full proof will be shown.

If someone has multiple keys broken on their keyboard and doesn't want to pay $15 to get a new one, they probably don't need a new one in the first place.

It could be a laptop, which is not so easy to replace.

???  Are you suggesting that an external keyboard won't work on a laptop?

No, I am suggesting that changing out an external keyboard is a lot easier than changing out a laptop keyboard.  Please keep up.

Then why not just add an external keyboard to her laptop (if she has a laptop)?

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the laptop?
Not really if it's being used at a desk or table.

Which is why a computer known, funnily enough, as a desktop is manufactured.

Aw, thank you Squeuil, you are so kind.

But it really isn"t necessary. I think this lap-top has just about had it (my friend told me not to buy an Acer!  :( ).

I haue an ipad, but i prefer typing on this old thing. Thank you for being so thoughtful.

I'm using a laptop at a desk.  It's hooked up to a small stereo, a second monitor, a mouse, and a printer.  Am I wrong?

I'm a cheapass so I haven't bought a new desktop computer yet.

If a key or two went bad though, I'd have no problem buying a cheap USB keyboard to plug into it.

A laptop is never cheaper than its equivalent desktop.

I had to buy the laptop because I needed something portable, and still do (was about $350 back in early 09).  I unplug 2-4 cords and away I go.  The mouse is wireless and uses a really small receiver, so I leave it plugged in.  Eventually I'll probably part with $300-$400 to get a new desktop and monitor, or maybe build my own like I did back in 02 (still have it, but it needs some work).

If it makes everyone sleep better, maybe squevil will start a fund for a new desktop and monitor for me.

If a key or two went bad, why would you not just change the keyboard on the laptop?  With many laptops, it is not difficult to change the keyboard.

Most likely because laptop keyboards are more expensive and harder to find for your specific model than generic external USB keyboards.

My brother offered to do just that. But it is just one of those things that i probably won"t get around to doing.
