Was Edmund Hillary a liar?

Do FEers give Sir Edmund Hillary acknowledgement as being the first to reach the world's highest peak..Mt. Everest?  Does he hold credibility with the Flat Earth believers?

Hillary accomplished many other great things in his life including leading an expedition that successfuly crossed Antarctica in 1958.  Many others attempted to cross the continent before and after Hillary, some successfully....it has been done by quite a few people on foot, sled and by mechanized transport.

How did he manage this on your Flat Earth?  Would he have gone in a great circle of many 10s of thousands of miles?  He and the others crossed the South Pole and continued to "the other side".  As they predicted.  Please explain what Hillary and all the others actually did without knowing it.

Conspiracy?  Hillary was a great man who used is wealth and political pull to provide education and healthcare to many Himalayans without. 

What conspiracy is this that he was part of exactly?

Hillary traveled south into the rimland. Why is that a conspiracy? Further, he didn't "cross Antarctica". He traveled from the Scott camp to the Amundsen-Scott station. Then he flew back. Fuchs traveled across the large peninsula on the antarctic coast -- from Shackleton camp to the Amundsen-Scott station and then on to the Scott camp. 




*edit: I just gave you the benefit of the doubt and decided to read your wiki link to make sure it contains the information that Hillary did not actually cross the antarctic, and it does. So now I'm wondering if you even read the links you are telling me to read.

Yes, i know Fuchs was the man who did the actual crossing but In the OP I stayed Hillary "lead" an expedition to cross Antarctica.  This gives the claim much credibility.

Additionally, there are many others listed who have crossed the continent and plenty of wiki links with further info.

Even, as you imply, Hillary's expedition didn't "cross" the continent then please extrapolate the miles required to journey from.Shackelton Base to Scott Base on your Flat Earth.  How many miles would that journey have been?

If so many people have been to Antarctica, surely one of them would have seen a continuous 150 ft wall of ice.
So, just like space, no one has ever been there. Otherwise the FAQ would be wrong and that could never happen.

I realize it's not possible to de-bunk satire as most on this site attempt to do... Still fun though.

 I would ask you to play along as I am and come up with a rough estimate, as best you can, of the overland distance between these points. 

Regardless of whether it has been traversed or not, how far do you imagine it is on your flat earth?

The FAQ calculates the "rim" to be over 60,000 km long.
And by that map of the trans-Antarctica crossing it looks like the Hilary expedition covered at least 40,000 km of that.
And the only explanation of how they did it would be walking around the rim.

But I will amazed if anyone who believes in the FAQ will even admit to anyone scaling the wall

You realize of course ice is less dense than water and therefore floats, don't you?  Just like the ice in your cocktail floats.

You realise that Antarctica (unlike the Arctic) is a continent. And the reason for that is because the ice is on rock, not an ocean.

Yes, of course, every school boy knows Antarctica is a continent and made of rock but the photo of your "ice wall" is actually a photo of an Antarctic ice sheet floating on the sea surface.  Much of the Antarctica landmass is accessible from the sea as you know.  Tourists visit the continent every day.  In fact it is so accessible there is an organized marathon running race held on the continent every summer.

Then how do the marathon runners and the others scale this wall?  Runners only wear running shoes and skimpy shorts you know....maybe a shirt if it's chilly.   Running shoes are not compatible with crampons.... and the ice axe?   Lets just say one must be very careful with his ice axe when wearing skimpy shorts.....

There aren't many clear pictures of the coast in the media section, but these people likely found a part where it collapsed and walked up the slope. This is also how penguins get up on the wall.

95% of the Antarctic coast is composed of ice fronts by frequency. The height of the walls encountered are typically about 150 feet, which is likely limited by the structural integrity of the ice.

Antarctica, when in the winter, under 20+ sunlight, its peninsula can average 0 Celsius.
I believe this is where the marathon took place.
When I run, cooler the better.
